The XV15 seems like an awesome value at it its price point. Group deley seems to be quite good compared to the others which should make for nice tight bass compared to say... the PB12nsd.

Here is a challenge for Power Sound Audio:

Design a 12 inch sub that reaches 20hz flat response for $500-$600.

I bet it would sell very well given your reputation. And it would give the SVS pb12 NSD a run for its money.

That won't be the first time Tom has heard someone suggest that. Just saying...

At $799(including shipping) the XV15 extends deeper, has significantly less ringing/group delay, and twice the output capability of the like priced pb12nsd. This has all been documented in third party reviews.

I can't look at this and say....let's reduce the output of the XV15 by 50% but only reduce the cost by 25%....that would be a big seller! Especially when you already have quality options like the hsu vtf-2 at the $600 price point.

I know, just target $499 instead of $599..

The hard truth is, when you source everything from USA vendors(except the amp) AND manufacturer everything in Ohio...it just isn't feasible to target the bottom MSRP products that are all built in china.

I am just seeing the 'Triax' on your website, and it looks very very interesting. Are all three woofers active?

And how low can this one go?

Yes, all three 15s are active.

Ultimately the extension and usable output will depend on the room size, room environment(large openings to other areas of the home?), and positioning of the subwoofer relative to the key seating positions.

In most rooms single digit extension would be expected using the "extension" setting on the amplifier(we will have two user selectable DSP programs in the amplifiers).

Hi all,

I'll try to get caught up with questions this evening. Quick update though---the XV15 and XS30 are now both offered in all of the real wood veneer options available on the Triax. There's an upcharge of course as wood veneering done in America is hardly inexpensive. We did our best to make it affordable though..

Very nice, Tom.
A XS30 in Cordovan Cherry would be one Sweet Sub.

Tom thanks for the specifics. Your price on the XV15 is good. I am all for made in America and buy in America. Just wondering how the other guys do it? Now i know. Thanks

One of the cabinets we have here is the XS30 in Cherry. I'm not sure which version of the Cherry...but it is very nice. We'll have pictures available within a day or so.

Jim and I have spent a *lot* of time developing product for both USA and Asian manufacturing. Some of the cost increases with USA manufacturing are no surprise to most. For example, the cost of a high quality wood veneer. Some of the cost differences may be a bit of a shock though. Here is one example, when you go "made in china"...you can pretty much specify whatever type of inner and outer boxing you want....plaster "box art" all over every side while you're at it. The total cost (per unit price)? Maybe six or eight bucks for a large subwoofer. Here in the states...forty to fifty bucks for the same.

I just purchased dual XS15base from a guy on another forum. Is there a reason why you dont have the base anymore? I looked on the site and there was only the XS15 with no base and it weighed less than the xs15base. Just curious. Can't wait to hear them, have read so much about them.

To help keep cost down was all I believe. It is still a option if someone would like the base though.

Edit: love your speakers they look nice!

I recently addressed this question elsewhere, here is a copy/paste to save time.

Our component cost has gone up several times in the past 9 months. The cost of MDF in America has risen quite a bit because of various legal battles with china.

Our choice here was to either increase pricing or find a way to reduce manufacturing costs. When focusing on the latter several common options quickly pop-up...

1)move manufacturering to china like just about all of our like priced competition has done. Thanks, but no thanks.

2)"decontent" the product(use a less expensive amp or driver). Again, thanks, but no thanks. We are using the same 15" driver and amplifiers.

3)look for a more creative method. Is there actually something we can consider that will reduce manufacturing costs AND provide tangible performance benefits?

The benefit to having a woofer firing into carpet is there can be a minor absorption of upper frequency harmonic distortion(by the carpet). So, in theory, the version without the base may sound "cleaner". However, in real world use....I wouldn't suggest either version will sound different. These designs(XV15, XS15) inherently produce very low distortion.

Again----we will continue to offer BOTH designs (base / no-base) for the foreseeable future. We understand some will prefer the old style. There will be a slight upcharge for the old version. But even so, it will still represent an unparalleled value in my admittedly biased opinion.

Hi all,

I know some have been waiting for web site updates on for th Triax driver pictures, some graphs, and wood veneer pictures(entire cabinets). Believe me, we're trying to get to these asap. We've had an unusually busy few weeks with orders. And fulfilling orders/customer service will always be priority one.

Here is a quick shot of the Triax driver next to our Power-X 15" driver though. Better shots to follow..
