They signed up for 4 years but that's not really how it goes. This is what Bama does often. They sign a better player than you, then you are gone if you haven't produced in 2-3 years. Spurrier has been doing it, hell when he first got there he pissed off the high school coaches so Vad by doing this most wouldn't even talk to him and threatened to keep him out of the schools. Of course winning fixes everything and they backed down because kids can talk to who they want. It's just a dirty business and the SEC is the king of dirty.

Tough to argue about the importance of recruiting with what that list has accomplished.
Just to play devil's advocate, how is it any different for say a kid who's going to college on an academic scholarship? If he doesn't perform in the classroom doesn't he lose his academic scholarship? Why shouldn't that apply to athletes on athletic scholarship who don't perform on the field? Earning a scholarship shouldn't be like winning the lottery. These kids are expected to perform and if they come in and turn out to be complete busts, why should the university continue to flip the bill for them for 4 years?

Besides that, programs don't just throw these guys out in the streets which is the way you make it sound. Usually they will help these kids find other places that they can go and play on scholarship, usually at smaller division 1 or FCS schools. They can still play football and earn a degree somewhere else.

I think the difference is with academics you have a grade to achieve to earn that scholarship. With athletic scholarships if a coach deems a kid not living up to the athletic promise the coach originally thought he had or is injured, has happened at Bama, then the coach does not have to renew the yearly scholarship that the kid has to live with for 4 years if he wants to transfer. Overall I think it's a good rule but I think there are some coaches that use it to their advantage and take away the student part of student athlete and make it athlete period. I hope that came across right and not just rambling.

Yea but a lot has to happen in order for it to come to that though. It's not like you have a kid who runs a 4.4 Forty and you recruit another kid who runs a 4.3 forty so you kick the slower kid off the team. There are a LOT of other factors involved. Does the kid work hard? How's his attitude? Does he cause off the field issues? How is he in the classroom? Is he a "cancer" in the locker room with the rest of the team? Does he compete and give 100% day after day? Plus like I said before, they will help those kids find other places to go play and earn a degree.

What a Joke! So South Carolina a is a "winner" because they finished at #19 in recruiting despite the fact they won 10 games last year. Yet Tennessee, who finished at #5 in recruiting despite only winning 5 games last year isn't on the list. LOL!

They still don't have Tennessee's numbers right either! We didn't sign 35 players we signed 32. 5 of which are back counted from last year's recruiting class and 2 will be counted towards next year's class. That's how Tennessee is able to sign 32 players and stay in compliance with the SEC's self-imposed yearly 25 player scholarship limit.

The key prepositional phrase is, "on NSD."

For example, Alabama isn't on the list, because they had every one of their 5* recruits locked up before NSD.

HTH.

It's still a joke! Any school (especially an SEC school) who wins 10 games or more and doesn't finish in the top 10 in recruiting is NOT a winner! LOL!

Also, Mizzou should be on that loser list. They won the SEC East last year and finished 35th in recruiting. How does that happen?

I may shoot myself for this later but I will defend them somewhat. I think yhey are winners on NSD because they filled needs. They landed DE and CB that they desperately needed and unfortunately they landed some very good players in those need positions. I'm off to puke after defending those bastards.

As far as this reason and that reason for letting kids go some of those reasons are legit. It's the kids being dismissed because the coach missed on the evaluation process and then use those reasons to let the kid go that are just wrong. I think this happens a lot unfortunately and happens more in the SEC because the way that conference does business.

"We filled needs." That's what every program says when they don't rank very high on NSD. LOL! Trust me I know. That's what Dooley said every year he was coaching at Tennessee.

Stop making me defend them. I know that but they really did. They brought in very good DE's and CB's that will play next year. That's mainly what they lost to the draft besides their QB. Now I'm done defending them, never again. Laugh at them as we all should.

What kind of quarterback is this kid? Some report him as a dual threat quarterback and others say he is more of a pocket quarterback? And then others say he is a hybrid between the two. I was glad we were able to snag him, he was very loyal during the whole process and wanted to be a 'Cane from early in the recruiting process.

He's good, he has some mobility but more stay in the pocket type. I don't know if this a good or bad thing but he reminds me of Stephen Morris. He has the tools to be great but he will throw that pass like what the hell. I have seen a couple of his games. I think he will be good for you guy's.

I've been reading that they think his ceiling is very, very high but will need time to develop.

NCAA considering a rule that would make it a 5-yard penalty to snap the ball for the first 10 seconds of the play-clock outside the last 2 minutes of a half.

This would make it so defensive players are guaranteed 10 seconds to swap players even if offense doesn't.

They are also considering removing the 15 yard penalty for targetting if the review is overturned.

Might as well call it the "Chip Kelly Rule."
