Logan Thomas did too. I wouldn't put too much stock in pro day.

Oh I don't , I've seen more of him than most, and I think he's the best QB in the draft. I hope he goes to a team that has talent around him. Houston with Andre, Foster, Hopkins would really help his first year.

For sure. I could think of worse than that group.

JaMarcus Russell is a prime example of not putting too much stock in pro days. Both Todd McShay and Mike Mayock have said JaMarcus Russell had the best pro day they've ever seen.

Agreed. But when you put on the game tape he is worthy of the #1 pick. The only knock that I have on him is his deep ball. It can use some work. Other than that he's more than proficient at everything else. The velocity is strong, he can move around the pocket, he makes good decisions, took a not so stacked UCF team to the Fiesta Bowl and beat the Big 12 Champions, and has the ideal size of a NFL QB.

He has all the physical tools to be very successful at the next level, but I wish he would show more emotion during games. He reminds me of Joe Flacco in the sense that his demeanor never changes.

So a judge says NCAA football players fall under the heading of employees via the Common Law definition of employee, and are allowed to unionize.

I can't see this ending well.

Is it just football players? If so, why do they get special treatment?

If it's not just football players, I'd expect universities to respond by eliminating all Sports programs other than Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, and some other Women's sport to maintain equality.

Because no university is going to want to deal with a unionized Water polo team (not to pick on Water polo, just giving that as an example).

I'm not sure I can see this heading somewhere good, and is the kind of problem I've always had with the "Just pay em!" mentality.

I enjoyed listening to Lester Munson (lawyer) on mike and Mike this morning. This ruling only applies to private schools (17 of them with football) because they are regulated federally, not by the states. They've won the right to unionize, but with appeals, who knows when they could actually vote. I'm assuming (probably wrongly) that a stay will be the first thing filed.

You have to respect how this was put together. They want their scholarships guaranteed, money available to deal with medical issues, short term and long term disability. To avoid the taxation issues, they didn't ask for money at this time, just the right to have a seat at the table and push for more support.

There are some smart people involved in this. Have to respect that no matter what you think of the suit itself

In reality nobody knows what the NLRB decision means at this point. This isn't close to being done, as both Northwestern and the NCAA will appeal and it could easily be a couple years until anything is final. There's some major changes to college sports in the upcoming years but it's impossible at this point to even guess what those changes are.

My feeling is that the unionization gets killed in the courts. Especially so if it makes it to the conservative SCOTUS, which isn't union friendly. But I do think in time we'll see college players entitled to a portion of profits made directly off their likeness. While colleges don't make any money of the likeness of some obscure volleyball or tennis player they without a doubt make money off huge names like Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel. And it's not hard to put a dollar figure on those profits.

I heard that on local radio too. The (heavily anti-union) media has massively blown this out of proportion. Bottom line is certain sports, namely football players are more or less full time employees nowadays. Some times of the year they're putting in 50+ hours a week of grueling work for the benefit of the fat cats running the operation. They should have every right to collectively bargain for certain benefits like medical care.

Bad break for Miami in spring ball. Ryan Williams, who was going to be our starting QB, tore his ACL. Brad Kaaya better be the real deal.
