It isn't illogical that someone would risk their life for their pets, a dog in this scene. Even during a tornado scene, it is possible. But the way it edited it made it look like Jonanthan had more time than he actually had and the long pause after he finally frees his ankle when some debris cause his ankle to get trapped for a little bit. Also, if people saw a father let their son go back to save a dog or a person and not himself, that right there would get child services invovled. Doesn't matter if Clark survived since some would consider it child endangerment. It was a weakly written and edited scene, but not because Jonathan went back to save their dog. For some that is a noble thing and courageous.

I grew up in a family of dog lovers. Believe me, I know lots of people that would risk life and limb to save their dogs.

I think the people whining about Superman 'doesn't kill' are morons

He DOES, and he CAN. He just doesn't do it to 'vulnerable' enemies. It's why Luthor has never been pulverised into oblivion and why Superman got the 'big blue boyscout' moniker from. The fact he doesn't kill often, doesn't mean that he wouldn't or can't. It just means he's never had the right motivation and in MoS, the scene where
[Show spoiler]he snaps Zods neck shows him not wanting to do that and the extreme remorse he feels as a result of losing his last connection to his race but also embracing his now adopted human home fully

Superman SHOULD kill, but ONLY when there is a level of unprecedented danger and doing anything less wouldn't really resolve matters. Any and all enemies Superman has ever killed has been justified imo, and you just need to look at the list of killed people. It's people that would cause immense death and destruction again, and again killing millions or billions of the humans Superman loves to protect.

Also, I love how the patriotic 'truth, justice and ...' HAS to be dropped, you know, cause of the whole hubbub they've been doing. I'm sure though, they did use the Vietnam backdrop or similar in a JLU episode.

Saw it yesterday.
It didn't change my life, but then I also didn't have any complaints.
It seemed like it was basically a much better-written version of Thor.
I don't understand the extreme opinions for either way. It was good, not great, and certainly not bad. I'm not voting in the poll, because you didn't give the half-star or scale of 1-10 option, and the 1-5 scale doesn't work for me, (the 1-5 scale is for people who think every movie is either great or terrible and can't grasp the concept of 'good', 'fair', or 'average'). I give it a 7/10, because that's what the movie rating system at this website designates as "good, not great", and I agree with the logic of their rating format.

WB's has capital to make the sequel awesome - bring in some more high profile actors or even sit on the capital and try to get some high profile actors for Justice League.

He killed Zod in Superman II about 20 years ago. Lois even killed Ursa.

I agree. I'm a longtime Superman freak and I give it a 3/5. Good comic film but not in my top 5. Definitely not a bad film. I saw Superman III in theaters. THAT was a bad experience. This was enjoyable. Not the best Superman movie but near the top.

Didn't the Arctic police take them away powerless? Or was it just Luthor?

Yep. The only difference was that in the original movie they just fell down holes in the Fortress of Solitude and out of sight. We (the audience) didn't get to actually see them dead.
