Randy Edelman is one of the most underrated composers, and knew how to make themes like a boss.
Where the hell is he? I miss his music. Same goes for David Arnold. Last edited by jess1581; 04-29-2021 at 08:33 PM. |

Nah. Del Toro is the overrated one of the bunch. Most of his work is a light miss for me.

Some video game movies are more fun than almost any big blockbusters that have come out in the last 5 years.

Saying " I disagree" does not mean much, it's just your point of view. At best, "cinephiles" (cinema lovers) but "filmmakers" and "critics" have a very different and superior meaning. Just to give my contribution: I do not understand how the judgment of critics can be equated with that of simple enthusiasts (cinephiles not filmmakers). to be. If I want an opinion on a car, science, do I go to a scientist or watch a video on youtube? Certainly the first option. In any sector, competence has more authority than people who, however passionate and dedicated to the cause may be, do not have the necessary preparation comparable to those who work as a critic for work. Also I too await a link or a reference to a text or article in which some or the most famous film critics praises Batman Returns, as the best film in the genre. We only lacked revisionism on TDK. There are the general consensus film, of the best in the genre: 2001, TDK, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, Star Wars etc. Folks, that film is a masterpiece and if after 12 years you still haven't understood why, if you still think Nolan is a passing trend or that there are only Nolan fans in the world, just go and read the English Wikipedia page of the film, in the Commentary, Themes and analysis and Legacy sections, search for video essays made by critics, read articles, reviews, statements by other directors who have drawn inspiration from it, or who recognize even its importance, to realize that it is one of the best blockbusters of the past 30 years. It is funny to belittle such a work, it is only the result of personal bias and preconceived notions that could have been had at the time as a reaction to the general acclaim, but now there is no reason. But there are people today who speak badly of The Shining and Fight Club, I shouldn't be surprised by anything anymore. If TDKR has aged badly, those of Burton are prehistoric. The Burtonites among other things, all this fanbase was born when TDKR came out and then for the aura of seeing Burton's Batman obscured, the latter's fans started looking for alleged defects with the lantern, citing the lack of artistic intent (as if those of Burton were not in all respects blockbuster productions) and overly praising Burton and his Batman for fear that they would be obscured forever, which then happened. Fortunately, Tim Burton's black crisis over the past 15 years has made any defense more and more difficult, even if they still exist as a small minority. This is called pleading your thesis with reliable and authoritative sources, and not speaking only with argumentum. Last edited by Darthvaderrocks; 05-01-2021 at 11:29 AM. |

Tastes are legitimate and I respect everyone's ideas. But if someone writes me "best comic book ever" I would say that you go beyond simple opinion, but your taste is polarized to the extreme. I simply pointed out that Burton's second chapter is not considered "best comic book ever" by specialized critics, which indeed says something else. That's all. Note: which critics would have better reviewed Batman Returns than The Dark Knight Rises? No, because the names I mentioned earlier (and I could have cited others) are (indeed they were) among the best critics ever. Gene Siskel, Ebert, Leonard Marlin, Peter Travers were authority in film criticism. But I don't remember ever claiming that Batman Returns is the best comicbook ever. If you could attach me support links, I would be grateful. I know it will never come, because it doesn't exist .. But I look forward to it confidently. |

You can project as much as you like or justify why I feel you are obnoxious for whatever reason you please. The fact remains that your game has gotten so predictable, in addition to remarkably stale, that when I do even bother to read your replies. I'm generally only able to make it through the first few lines.
Fortunately, since they're usually all slight variations of the same post, I'm not missing anything. |
