its was between fresh and Carlito's Way. but i went ahead and picked Higher learning, not the best of the bunch but my favorite

Yea definitely Carlito's Way was organized but awesome film! I also like Higher Learning and think its underrated! Got Em!!

I liked Higher Learning when it first came out, but I watched it a couple months ago and I'm not impressed. There's some good moments in the film, but over all I feel it's a sloppy.

I've always liked Judgement Night since i was young, though it's not really much of a "gang" movie. I voted for The Outsiders.

I used to feel the same way about John Singleton. Each film I've revisted, I've liked it less. To be honest, the only one I still really like is Four Brothers. It's still kind of new, so when I watch in 5 years I'm sure I'm not going to like it as much. I know that Boyz in the Hood is an important film, but I feel it's flawed in many ways and I don't think it has the same impact as a film like Clockers does still. Now this is my own personal feeling because I know a lot of people still swear by Boyz in the Hood.

Oh man I was about to get ya until u mentioned your thoughts about Boyz N the Hood! I do have to strongly disagree with u on that one, but a real opinion is respected! I remember to this day seeing that film at the theater and how it affected me! I can watch it over and over! I only saw Clockers once and remember liking it, but to be honest I dont remember it thoroughly! Got Em!!

I have to admit that Larry Fishburne's perfermance in that movie is one of my favorites. That's the type of dad I want to be. Except a little more loving. But, I want to be as smart as that cat.

Oh man Furious Styles......"I'm eating" haha that line always cracks me up! But yes great performance, and as for Ice Cube.....I loved his performance also as I know it was a hood role, but most cats that are not actors or converted actors like Game usually over does it and Cube did it naturally and it seemed genuine unlike Game in Waist Deep or whatever he is in!! Got Em!!

Yeah, I don't mind Ice Cube and he was good in that role, but going back to our convo about Rappers being actors. I say movie casting directors need to watch The Wire any time they're looking for black actors. Damn is that show good. I'm not only talking about urban flick either, I'm sure a lot of those actors could do great things in any genre.

man I have the Wire season one and only watched about 4 episode! I need to get back into it! Anyway back then I felt that ice Cube deserved to play that role as that qoute "Boyz N The Hood" was Im sure u know a hit record and Cube basically started gangsta rap and for the movie to be called Boyz N The Hood (a song he wrote for Eazy E) I felt he needed to be part of it and was pleasantly surprised of his acting! Got Em!!

I must admit I favor Blood in Blood Blood out, probably cuz I am mexican. But I have to give credit where credit is due American History X and Boyz n the Hood are amazing movies.
