I wonder if they're going to start Luongo in the next game. Switzerland should be a bigger test, and it's an opportunity for some redemption after they were shut out 2-0 in Torino.

Canada will meet Switzerland on Thursday in the second of three preliminary games. Veteran goalie Martin Brodeur will get the start.

[Show spoiler]Vonn and Mancuso took gold and silver in Women's downhill!

And more importantly we retook first place in the medals standings, I'm hoping we can hang onto first but that won't be easy.

Don't forget that the skiing events have been shifted all around due to weather issues, and more importantly it's the Olympics. I'm sure she was in pain going down that mountain, but it's the freaking Olympics. You deal with the pain, you show guts, and you go get a medal for your country.

John
agree, CBC/SRC was a bit better. But I still consider us extremely lucky.

I realize that, what I'm saying is prior to the start she was considering not participating, then it turned to if she does, she likely won't medal, which shifted to a swollen shin which makes it a game time to decision, and now a Gold.

Just forget all the crap, we all know what's on the line, and it'll take broken bones to stop athletes...and maybe even that won't stop em.

We were just watching some of the women's downhill skiing at the fire station. Some of the wipeouts were pretty impressive.

US kicking ass and taking names in medals.

Shawn White was awesome last night. He's so far above everyone else...literally lol

Way to go Lindsay Vonn. That downhill track was so fast. There were some really hard crashes.

CNBC needs stop airing parts of Men's hockey games and showing full Women's hockey. Women's hockey sucks.

yeah, theres really only 2 teams in the womens hockey event, the US and Canada, i dont think anyone else comes close, i watched part of the us game vs china, and figured i didnt need to see any more when they were up 9-0

the mens is different story though, lots of good teams, the three big games are on sunday

US vs Canada
Russia vs Czech Rep.
Sweden vs Finland

i really liked shawn whites interview after he won too, before even himself, he mentioned that hes happy to be there to do it for the USA, as much as i like lindsey vonn, all she said was how happy she was that she did it, and all the work she did, and that she got what she came there for, she didnt even mention being happy to represent her country, i hope all the other athletes remember who they are representing when they are competing

and yeah, with no hitting, women's hockey is just not as exciting as men's

and how embarrassed must that one woman have been when she fell 2 seconds out of the gate on that ski run? oops...

Well I think the events that transpired today show that Vonn's knee wasn't being overblown by the coaching staff. That was a nasty fall and a damn shame, she was well on her way to taking gold again. Maybe it's best for her to call it quits for the Vancouver games. That shin could cause her to get a more severe injury, and she still has at least one more Olympic games in her. Think of the future Lindsey, we all are very proud of your Gold medal.

At least there is consistency with the NHL and olympics, the refs are horrible in this Canada game. Suisse is playing really well though, but they are getting away with some cheap shots out there.
