Bye, bye basement HT .

It's bittersweet because we put so much work into it and I haven't been able to enjoy it for that long.

The good news is that the house we are looking at has a pretty large basement and perhaps I can have a dedicated room this time with a projector.

Time to start the basement reno all over again. Could be fun.

Say it isn't so Can you send it my way

Wow! All that work and so little time to enjoy it. Congrats on the new addition, and good luck on your bid on the larger place. Looking forward to the new HT.

Good luck on your bid Morrissey! That is one bitter sweet pill to take. But you are already making some of the sacrifices that a good parent does. Having enough room for children cannot be overstated. You will reap the return of your wisdom once you re-do your new basement and make it the dedicated (or semi-dedicated if you end up like me, and share 1/2 of it as a kid's playroom) space.

Thanks landry...hopefully everything turns out well. Kind of excited about starting from scratch though. I still have the gear so I don't have to do anything there. I would like to do some audio treatments in the room before moving in. That's one thing I didn't do with my existing setup.

No way...the new basement is all mine.
Just kidding...I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. We'll see what happens. But regardless we will be moving at some point. The good thing is that I learned so much from the last reno and from this forum...I know what I want/need now.

Having a new basement room that was all mine was definitely a plus at my new house. And like you, I learned a few important things at my last house that I have put into use at my new place.

Your current setup looks great. Nice choice on the speakers and equipment. I'm sure your new setup will be awesome as well. What was hardest was when I moved to the new place and I had to wait to setup my system in the family room. Three months went by before I had it back together, because of painting the house and all the unpacking and re-arranging that went on. But that was a small price to pay to get my own dedicated room in the basement. That's the room I'm working on currently.

My only suggestion if you go to a dedicated room is to get a projector. That is the single most significant upgrade I have ever seen (besides going to CIH).

Your room is a beauty Morrissey, I am sure that your new room will be even better.

...and it's looking fantastic by the way. Not sure if I could wait three months, I'm too impatient.

I would agree. I'm going with both of those in my new room...Panasonic AE-4000 and CIH setup.

Thanks, it's starting to come along. And I had plenty of projects to keep me busy from watching any TV or movies for that time. We've been in the house 10 months so far.

We didn't end up getting it. There was a bidding war and we were not prepared to overpay on the house. The housing market is ridiculas these days. Oh well, we'll keep our eyes open for another.

Sorry to hear, and I am surprised.....we have homes that can't sell very quickly around here....they must have been asking for a really low price. I wouldn't get it a bidding war either, as it is a buyers market right now anyway.

It is very much a buyers market right now...so many homes for sale but they are selling suprisingly quick, unless they are vastly overpriced...then they sit.

That's how the market is in Toronto...price low and generate a bidding war. It works.

I posted a new thread regarding a new LCD my wife and I are planning on getting for the upstairs living room. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

I posted this in the LCD section but I thought I would also keep this in my gallery.

We ended up going to our local store and got a deal that I couldn't resist at $1250 CAD all in with taxes for the Samsung LN46C630 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD.

Seems like a pretty good LCD. Here are a few shots (minus the TV Cabinet to come)

Looking good Morrissey....now you can go to bed and watch those Habs beat down the Pens . Yes, I really do not like the Pens that much!! But seriously though, it is a nice TV and I think you will enjoy it!

Thanks Fors...you can call me Chris by the way. I was hoping for the 650 but our budget couldn't handle it. Pretty happy anyways.

That was an awesome game last night...those refs sure want the Pens to win though. Terrible officiating. Your Flyers need a big win tonight.

You can say that again Chris. They need a miracle, but a 7-1 drubbing like Detroit did would be a good start! All I ever asked from them in this series is not to get shutout and not to get swept. I am scared that the hockey gods are going to let me down.

The C630 appears to be what my A650 is with it's features (especially backlighting, as I don't have that.) If so, you will really enjoy this TV, especially for a bedroom. I think the colors it can produce are some of the best of any LCD TV.
