You should check the one out at Costco (if you live near one).

I have been noticing cross talk thanks to this, AVS, and CNET. I haven't noticed it on like, Avatar 3D. But those tech demos, I notice it quite a bit.

This thread is great it sounds like a bunch of people that can't afford a 3D tv so they have to put it down to make themselves feel better. I mean almost all the new tvs have a 3D option whats wrong with throwing on the glasses once in a while and i don't EVER believe glassless 3D will give you the same effect the glasses will. EVER! Because without glasses the 3D effect will not give you the "IMMERSEVE" felling.

I was looking to update to a HDTV last year and I saw that the 3D market is expanding rapidly. I found a great deal at a local HHGreg and decided to go from there. I wish I would have gotten at least a 60' for 3D but I like it just as it is. If they movie was originally (and successfully) shot in 3D, it would be a waste watching it in 2D because it just isn't the same anymore.

Same thing happened when HD arrived. Direct TV only had 1 HD channel in 1998.

Now I am trying to convince the wife to let me spend about 4k to buy a new TV, new blu-ray player, a 3d kit, an extra pair of glasses, and a new hdmi 1.4 compatible receiver.

I found some good deals online and I think I can keep the whole set-up to under 4k with the 63 inch samsung and the onkyo 708.

Now I just need to convince the wife that since I do not smoke or drink that she needs to understand my addiction to tinkering with the home theater.
How are you going to convince her to spend THAT much? Are you using credit cards?

And I've got some ideas on how to convince her.

That would probably be my best example as well. I have seen Avatar 3 times now. Twice in theaters in 3D and once on 3D blu-ray. I was amazed by how good it still looks on 3D blu-ray. I tried watching 3 minutes in 2D afterwards and it felt lifeless without the 3D. For Avatar and other movies like it there is no way to watch it except in 3D.

And I have noticed no cross talk with Avatar. However, the other demos suffered from them badly. Cross talk makes me dizzy.

Why would anyone hate 3d? your face is in 3d

I wanted to replace my 48" crt rptv. So got the samsung unc558000. Since i would be using this tv for 10 years or more I wanted to get all the features In case I needed 3d in the future.

Also I do like 3d, But i havent seen a 3d moive since the 80s.

It's pretty awesome to relive some of the GOOD Avatar 3D scenes from the movies. I could honestly care less about 3D, but it can be nice when done right.

So I guess my question is, if you went 3D, why did you. And if not, why didn't you?

Have you not been on the forums lately? The internet? Stores? EVERYONE COMPLAINTS ABOUT 3D.....too much.

That's why I got 3D. Regardless, I want to future proof. Think of all the people that got 720p instead of 1080p. And now want a TV with 1080.

Yep, that's me. Now I'm looking for a 3d tv to put in the new HT room of the house we're buying, and letting the wife have the 55" Plasma in the living room (she doesn't care if it's 720p or 1080p).

Our faces may be in 3D, but at least we don't need glasses to notice this.

I've heard nothing but complaints at my house... in fact people keep asking me when they can come back over to complain while watching Tron or playing Killzone 3.

They just can't seem to complain enough.

I wasnt going to comment until I saw this post. NewOrder I can afford a new 3D tv no problem but I aint going to waste money on a "fad" that has never done nothing for me and never will. 3D to me is nothing but a novelty and to me it always has been. I am sure there are ALOT of people on here that can afford 3D tv's but dont want to upgrade to the newest thing every time it hits the shelves. You want the so called IMMERSIVE 3D feeling? Go to a movie theater with a very large screen because thats the only way to get that IMMERSIVE 3D feeling in my book. That being said dont insult people and say they are jealouse of 3D because they cant afford a 3D tv because I am sure alot of them can and I am one of them.

I think people should just get a 3DTV because it's future proofing. That's what I'm doing. The prices have fallen greately. And it IS A NOVELTY. I don't think anybody should watch every day. But some things are PRETTY INCREDIBLE IN 3D. I F#$%$ING LOVE YOU JAMES CAMERON!

Default 3D blu-ray for me

I got my 56 inch 3D ready DLP set in 2008 - the set itself was manufactured in 2007. It wasn't until 2 years later that my TV actually became a functioning 3D set as I waited until I noticed more 3D blu-ray titles becoming available. So for the first 2 years my TV was 2D only and very good 2D.

A 3D ready TV is really going to be used mostly as a 2D TV, with the occasional 3D viewing.

I have 4 pairs of 3D glasses and seven 3D blu-ray titles. I only have my DLP to comment on, and the 3D is clear with no ghosting. And I'm only getting true 3D films, no 2D movies converted in post production for me.

I don't get why some people are so against wearing 3D glasses to experience a film in three-dimensional space. Do these same people complain the same towards the use of sunglasses on a bright day? I don't see sunglasses going away anytime soon and people usually don't mind wearing them for those selected occasions.

3D is used for the length of a movie, then you go back to regular 2D. Who cares what you look like with 3D glasses on. You're watching a movie in 3D! You shouldn't be looking at each other and talking anyway.

The old anaglyph 3D (with the red and cyan glasses) was a fad, only because of the limited technology it used at the time. Today's 3D TV and movies are here to stay, because the technology works.

3D is for those selected, planned occasions. The experience is different. You choose to watch something in 3D for that extra immersive experience. It's fun.

Thank you......

I don't see why it's so hard for some people to realize that people aren't interested in something that has already failed twice in the past..... it has nothing to do with the cost.

Some day perhaps the only thing available will be 3D televisions, and if that's the case, I won't buy the glasses because I don't care to watch things in 3D....

If the Set comes with glasses, I won't pay extra for the movies because I don't care to see them in 3D

If the movies come as 3D/2D combo packs only..... I simply won't watch the 3D version.....

I just don't care for the "effect" You can tell me it's "realistic" all you want.... but I don't care for 3D in the theater, I don't care for it at home, I think those IMAX presentations are silly.

7 movies..... that's better than I could do, because I haven't seen one available in 3D yet that I would want to own (although maybe that Despicable Me movie for my kids....we'll see)

And you say anaglyph 3D was a fad because the technology was "limited" but you're saying the current one isn't????? Based on the fact that there is a need for glasses (let-alone the health warnings) I'd say it qualifies as 'limited'

It's pretty bad when I can't watch a movie with my 3 year old because he can't keep the glasses on his head, and there are warnings against children viewing it to begin with....

I wear sunglasses when it's bright out..... it's necessary to protect my eyes, but I agree, I don't think wearing the glasses is "that" big of a deal.... it's not to me, but I know to many it is, especially those who already need/wear glasses.
