I'm going to wait it out to see if there is going to be a Super Duper Edition where the set comes in a Darth Vader Helmet.

Theatrical cuts won't be getting the blu ray treatment so says Lucas. Sadly it will be the ruined SE's that will be released.

I wouldn't mind a set in Carrie Fisher's knickers.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaLxFIVX1s!!!!!!!!!

Sigh... The only reason to get it now i guess, is if its a "Special Special SPECIAL Edition" that removes the dumb CGI, Hayden Christiansens face and the musical number from 'Return'. They also need to correct the lightsaber colors (Pink Lightsabers, anyone?) and make Han the only one who shoots again. Okay, the last one dosnt matter all that much to me but c'mon, i doubt anyone could just casually dodge a blast from a freaken laser!
Also if the extras are really good, i'll reconcider

It will be an outrage if the original theatrical trilogy isn't included

This is big news though, for Star Wars fans and for Blu-ray itself, as these will sell in huge numbers and help futher propel Blu over DVD.

Ordered the complete saga 9 disk for £69.99. Now thats not a bad price for now.

I wonder if it end up droping to £50 by the time it comes out since we do have a long time to wait and preorders usually do drop in price even futher.

Ordered The Complete Saga; Star Wars is Episode I - Episode VI, not IV-VI.

I'm amazed people are still moaning about the various changes to these films after all this time. C'mon, move on! There's a very good chance that there will be further changes to this set such as CGI Yoda in all prequel films. Fair enough if you don't like the prequels, don't buy them but isn't it great that you at least have a choice about that? (you just know the die hard collectors are going to buy all three boxes!)

The only change that's ever irritated me is Han shooting Greedo, otherwise, it's a great set of films, some better than others.

For those in the UK, I spotted that ITV will be showing the saga in HD over the next few weeks and from what I remember last time it's the prequels that suffer the most in HD with all those CG backgrounds. I would imagine the blu-ray release is not the same as the versions ITV will broadcast though. The tv HD versions have been around for a few years now.

Anyway, all I need to hear now is the Indiana Jones blu-ray release date

I've just been onto Amazon and on their home page it says "pre-order exclusively at Amazon.co.uk", so does this mean we'll only be able to pre-order from Amazon?

I'm of course not bothered because my order's in, but I'm just wondering.

I wondered the same thing, I can't believe Lucasfilm would restrict the sale of the set to one outlet, so I'm guessing Amazon have a few weeks of exclusive pre-ordering before everyone else can accept orders.

Play are listing it under a generic cover as coming soon and I'll get an email from them once they have it officially. I doubt there will be much in it price wise and I have to admit I find Play much slower at delivery though generally I prefer using them.

Anyway, my order is in, roll on September! Not only will it be a day long remembered, but possibly one to book off work too

Play now have two of the boxsets up for preorder, both of which are slightly more expensive than Amazon's listings:

Well that was hardly an exclusive for Amazon then!! They are cheaper though.

Play show the release date as 1st Sept, but on this site it's the 19th? 1st of Sep is a Thursday.

Oh god NOOOOO

The link below indicates the covers for each film are the same bloody awful ones used on the DVD's last time around. They are truly horrible and I hope these are mock ups.

http://screenrant.com/star-wars-blu-ray-kofi-95058/

Scroll down to see them

Why, why, why aren't the original posters being used?

I agree, hopefully they are just mock-ups and new ones will be produced for this release.

When you say "originals" do you mean these?:

£70 for 6 movies and 9 discs aint bad going to be honest, was kinda expecting these to be more than that and hats off to Lucas for releasing 3 separate sets to cater for everyone's needs.

I'm gonna hold off on pre-ordering the complete saga for the time being as these may come down in price a tad like the Alien Anthology did (unlikely, but you never know).

Lucas seems to like September as the OT dvd's had a september release back in 2004.

@hobgoblin, sadly I can't view images at work on this site for some reason, but I'm talking about the painted art posters.

I hope the box itself isn't just a piece of cardboard, a release like this deserves something a bit more fancy! In fact I'd pay a bit more for a decent box.

Ordered it from them. They don't have the single trilogies up atm though, but I want the complete collection obviously I think I would cancel it if any super duper set came out though!
