whats the deal with dropping a player? why would you want to drop someone off your team?

you would drop someone to pick up someone else from the free agent pool. Trust me leagues are won and lost by surprise pickups from free agency. There's bound to be an underperformer on your team at some point in the season and it would be wise to drop him for someone else who may be in a better environment to perform. I'm talking about guys you probably picked up at the end of the draft and obviously not the big names.
In one of my leagues last year, as soon as I found out CP3 was out for the season I dropped the biggest loser on my team and picked up Darren Collison. That one move may have won it for me and I'm sure the owner of Chris Paul was kicking himself for not grabbing Collison.

ok, that makes sense... so you can just drop someone and pick someone thats a free agent without question? so, theoretically, i could drop Wilson Chandler and just pick up Varejao and its done?

you have to get my permission first before dropping anybody

You can pick up and drop anytime and it's done instantly. However, when somebody drops a player you have to wait 3 days before anyone can pick up the player that they dropped.

yeah that's right. The only time it's a bit different is if you want somebody that a team just dropped. So using your example, once you drop Wilson Chandler he will be put on waivers for 2 days. Which means nobody can simply pick him up like u can Varejao until 2 days has passed. In those 2 days while a player is on waivers, teams can put claims on the player and depending on your "waiver priority" the team with the highest priority will win that player. Once you use your waiver priority u go to the bottom and everybody's waiver priority moves up 1. If nobody claims a player off waivers in those 2 days then the player gets moved to the free agent pool. hth

thanks for clarifying. just trying to make sure i know all the details of things that can be done etc...

do people drop/pick up players often? or more towards middle of season or if someone gets hurt?

Dammit I didnt realize that. Yes it was set for 6 teams to make the playoffs when I had it set for a 10 team league. I dont think I can change it anymore now that we drafted. I will go online later today to see if I can and if so i will make it 4 teams but I doubt i can. Well see. Got Em!!

it depends...I ended up dropping Oden on our first day...now i'm thinking about dropping someone else..lol...

youre dropping but not picking anyone up?? and there is a max amount of player s you can have right.... how do trades work when its a 2 for 1 or something?

U set your lineups daily and u can set them days in advance to if u like. Got Em!!

I guess it all depends what the commish sets it to. I just checked ours and it looks like CZAR has it set to 2 days. That's pretty much the norm in most leagues that i've been in.

Man! I'd love to get into the trading bonanza as well but i love my team so much I think i'm gonna roll with what i got for now. Nothing is more satisfying than pulling off a game changing trade. CZAR made me a pretty good offer the other day that i turned down. Hopefully i don't end up regretting it. lol
