Well, these guys have to spend their excess money on something. Better BDs instead of booze, drugs, or prostitutes I suppose.

Do what I do... buy cars. I'd much rather buy a new Lexus than have a ton of BDs.

Say whuuuu?! Please, don't be one of those people who think cars are only a tool. They can define your life, change how you view things, and change how people perceive even you. I'm not saying I agree with that philosophy, though that's the way the world is. If you go to work daily with a clunker, you'll be miserable and perhaps despise life. Drive to work daily in a new Mercedes and you'll be all smiles. If I didn't buy my last Lexus, I wouldn't have the friends nor the connections I do today.

He's already 1/3 there. I'm sure that 3,000 DVD collection wasn't cheap to build either. Who knows how many BDs we'll all have before it's all said and done years from now.

We have some members here that might hit 3,000 this year.

yup, cars are a tool, if your friend s are dependent on your car then I wouldn't even associate with them. As for business. I've been a business analyst for years and the only people who take a car as a status cymbol and that be your "draw" to them aren't worth the oxygen to breath or your time. I know very many rich ass people who drive a beat up 80's honda accord.

I have a 10 year old Chevy Silverado that has 140,000 miles and I drive 50 miles round trip to and from work everyday. I've only ever had 2 things break on it: the water pump and power steering pump. Needless to say my next vehicle will be another Chevy, probably either an Equinox or Traverse.

Again, I agree with you 100%. Even when I meet new people, I never mention the things I own and rarely ever take new acquaintances to my primary residence. It's easy to discern the fakes who want only money from you, to true friends.

My point is that having a new "luxury" vehicle compared to an old hoopty can completely change your life. If I didn't buy the last car I own now, I wouldn't have met dozens of people nor have the business connections I have today.

I still have an old Civic for my "grocery getter" though there are too many things wrong with her now that make me want to put her out to pasture.

maybe, I can sort of see your point depending on your career. Just not 100% that the car is what drove the connections that's all

My wife had a 94 Accord until 2008 and the thing had about 260,000 miles on it with the paint peeling off the trunk. The only thing that ever broke on it was the A/C compressor. We got $1000 for it as a trade-in.

Well to be open and not vague, I met many people within Lexus, have taken photos for my local Lexus dealer (I'm a photographer), and also toured the Northeast US with Club Lexus and NELOC (Northeast Lexus Owners Club). If I never bought and drove that car, I wouldn't have met any of the people I have.

Plus, I love the looks from everyone from teens to seniors when I drive by. Always puts a smile on my face.

My Civic has too many little issues that I feel aren't worth the money and time to fix. It still runs 100% though the bodywork doesn't look nearly as it did years ago. Now I'm told my ball joints may be going bad and I'm considering just dumping it and buying a new SUV.

At my peak, I think I had around 1400 DVDs. I generally give away the DVDs when I get a movie on Blu-Ray. They make good gifts.

Hayabusa85 - Dang that's a lot of games. I'm only at about 1,500 games, but I did decide to start collecting complete copies a few months back, so that slowed my count down.

why? does a new Lexus help you get from A to B any faster? A car is transportation, that rusts and loses value every day. A movie collection is constant fun when you want it.

that is just sad. If all your self worth is from your belongings then you have none.

+1

---

Should hit 2500 by the end of the year

Planning some nice pics when I hit the big 3-000! Needless to say, some great titles have yet to pop onto BD, but once they do, and I replace all my DVD's, I will sell them off in a giant lot. I still treasure some DVD's though, and like formats before, I will end up keeping some.

Wow, you definitely have a lot of Blu-rays, I thought people who owned 200-300 was too much, but you've gone over the limit. xD

I've got 80 Blu-rays on my wish list, so I doubt I'll reach 200 BD's ever, I'm now starting to look at HD-DVD titles again to own.
