USA Do you buy 3D releases without having the proper set up?

I don't own a 3D TV and I probably won't own one for a good few years now, but I have just recently treated myself to a 3D laptop and, even though I hate watching movies on a computer, I have started buying 3D releases because it's always nice to have the option there.

I'm starting to, future proofing and all that and theres not much of a cost difference if any. Despicable me for example on Blu will the same price for each version when it comes out over here next year.

I love 3d at the movies but to me it can stay there. I'm fine with my regular blus

In my case a more accurate response would probably be 'No, I can put the entire purchase price toward something I'll actually watch'.

I'm fairly disinterested in 3D in general but on top of that I can't think of any 'must have' 3D titles.

I do have a 3D setup, but don't have any 3D release BDs as of yet (save for the Panasonic demo BD which came with my player ).

I'm not chomping at the bit to garner 3D titles yet, but I could pick up one if the price really came down on a title I really want. After all, the 2D version will be included.

started to, yeah. I am going to go 3D before The Hobbit, so I figured I'd start getting a couple things to watch before then (once I get the Tv). With sales etc the price often seems to work out to about the same anyway.

I don't have a 3D setup yet, but if there is a movie that I want to buy, and it's available in 3D, I will not buy the 2D only version.

Everytime new releases come out in it, like Christmas Carol or Despicable Me, I think about picking it up for the few extra bucks, but then I realize I don't have the setup for 3D and won't for AT LEAST another 6 months. I've watched only a mere 5 movies in 3D and all of them give me headaches so I'm not jumping over hurdles just yet.

From what I've seen released.... there is only one movie available in 3D (that I'm aware of I guess) that I even want to watch, and it is also a potential purchase (2D version, 3D version.... whatever is cheaper) but that's it....

That movie is "Despicable Me" because I heard good things about it, and I have kids I haven't seen anything else available as 3D that I have any interest in seeing yet.

It's good that you feel that way...... I think it's a great idea too. I never understood why people get all angry when their Blu-rays come with DVD copies...... It's for people who want to travel with them, or for people with kids, or people who haven't upgraded to Blu-ray yet..... The "Just give me a digital copy" crowd always puzzled me.

I'll be interested in 3D at home when there is a 3D solution with Kuro quality based on Real3D polarized solution. I also need glasses with my prescription added. Active shutter gives me a headache.

We are probably about a year or two away before that happens.

I can't vote, because I have the proper set-up but no 3D movies!

It's odd that "No, because I never plan on getting a 3D set up" is currently winning the vote. Most people I know are just going gaga over 3D. I look at them like they're crazy. It's just odd that most of us Blu-ray.com members don't care about 3D.

No, I actually refuse to buy anything 3D related and will skip any release that includes a 3D disc. I will not accept how manufacturers force exclusives and proprietary systems down consumers throats.

Yes I have started to buy 3Ds. I think it is all to get prepared for the change. The same thing happened when people used to buy DVDs , so they now put the DVD with the BDs discs. It's all about time.

I personally do not own a 3D bluray player or a 3D TV, but planning to in some time. Waiting for Oppo 93 release and when the prices become more attractive so why not?

+1

Waiting for the Oppo 93 and for JVC's new 3D projectors to be released and thoroughly tested. Looking at the X-7, but might wait for gen 2 if they have any issues.
Looking forward to real 3D at home..

No and I have no plan to go 3D. I know very well I will probably have a 3D TV when I am ready for my next purchases in 3 or 4 years but I won't be using the 3D features.
