Ireland's Commercial court made a ruling today to the country's main ISP's; to close eight websites breaching Irish copyright law.
This ruling came from a legal action by the Motion Picture Association comprising of Hollywood's major Movie & TV Studios. Full in depth story is in the link below Quote:

The AACS 2.1 copy protection system, used for UHD Blu-ray, has officially been cracked by a company called Arusoft.
https://mybroadband.co.za/news/softw...ed-report.html As I been reading about this new system; it has only appeared on UHD Blu-rays since May of this year. This is really a disaster for anyone who loves the UHD format and a big bonus for anyone who loves to do the illegal ripping on them. What is wrong with Hollywood these days if they are constantly trying to use this technology & dodge this problem from happening again only to get duped once more by some shrewd people in the know? Are any of these new copy protection systems really that credible to keep with UHD Blu-ray in the long run? |

With regards to piracy - what should be legal, is to bypass copy protection/DRM mechanisms on stuff you own a retail copy of. So say you want to watch a movie on your laptop, tablet or phone, but you only own the DVD or Blu-ray? You should be allowed to make a rip for your other devices as long as it is for personal use. I don't agree with this crap that you should have to buy it again in whatever format for whatever price they're selling it at, or pay $2 or $5 per movie to convert it to a digital copy like VUDU offers. If you bought a retail copy, then the person who owns the rights already made their sale. After you paid for it, you should be able to do what you want with it for personal use. The reason that we still have these outdated laws here in the United States is because these big companies and lobbying and they don't want to change. I remember music companies going through a similar ordeal with people copying their CDs. They tried all sorts of ways to prevent it (Sony I think even got sued over it for putting rootkits on peoples' computers).
