Not likely - the original is from Universal, the remake from Lionsgate. Uni is just cashing in on the buzz from the remake.

No lossless for the original 1.0 for Barbarian? Disappointing. I sold the Franchise Collection release years ago. Will be making Conan the Barbarian a 2-Disc since I have the extended soundtrack laying around somewhere. Unsure of Conan the Destroyer though.

And, you have already watched the Blu-rays correct?

The poster you quoted has incorrect spects for audio. Both films will have 5.1 DTS-HD MA.

I don't give a toss about 5.1 remixes. Where the hell is the original mono track as lossless? If I had to import the HIGHLANDER release from the UK since it had non-remixed lossless, superior picture and extras, what else would I have to do?
Hopefully Spielberg will heavily push for the 1.0 track to be lossless for JAWS.
Finally, 5.1 remixes don't mean jack shit to me, especially the one for THE TERMINATOR. Criterion and a select handful of other companies are actually getting the original theatrical audio = lossless correctly.

Destroyer isn't as bad as many say....I will be snagging both. Not a fan of the Barbarian coverart.

What is that supposed to mean? Studios don't generally you give you free cash to see another studio's movie.

The first US DVD was the theatrical cut, but it was non-anamorphic.

Gotta disagree here. I bought the re-recorded soundtrack and I like it but it's not Conan. It's so different in so many places--the main title especially sounds really kind of awful--and while I admire what they did (and enjoy it for its own merits) it doesn't replace the original score in my heart. Doesn't even come close to it.

Agreed.
"Crom! Where is da wizard who killed my mudder....CROM where are da two snakes facing each udder?"

(youtube it if you haven't seen it, it's awesome)

The wizard is Pat Roach, isn't he? The German Mechanic from Raiders / The Thuggee captain from Temple of Doom / General Kael from Willow?

I'll probably get Destroyer at some point, but will wait for the $8 or less price range to do so. I think Barbarian will break my $10 rule.

Wasn't the DVD in mono or some crap like that? I remember the audio sucking.
I'll post it because you're right it's hilarious.

I'm a bit torn about the re-recording. On the one hand, I kind of agree with you, but on the other I realize I only feel that way because I'm so used to hearing the score as it was originally recorded. Knowing that Poledouris was never happy with the original final mix makes me wonder if he would've been happy with the re-recording. Too bad we'll never know. His magnificent score is in the top 5 of my all time favorite film scores.

LOL, Sounds just like him!
They've got musicals of most of his movies.

I do that all the time. Probably the best example is the bare bones "Battle of Britain" blu-ray. Using a 3-disc BD case I bundled the Blu-ray with my DVD (which included a commentary) and a second DVD with special features.

I am almost certain that these will be coming down in price shortly after the street. I will not touch "Destroyer" for more than $10, but "Barbarian" I would pick up for about $15.

Conan = Day 1
Destroyer = Bargain bin purchase

I'm excited about this. The first Conan was always a favorite of mine. Highly underated. A no holds barred movie made back when every studio didn't demand PG13 ratings to get the 'teenage' crowd.
Snake handling, Orgies, Giant Axes, Loose Witches. Its got it all!
Plus James Earl Jones is awesome in this film!

Who knows, right? There's so much to be said for microphone placement and mixing. Who knows if Poledouris really meant for us to hear more percussion, or less, etc, etc. Who knows if he would've chosen this take over that.

As far as the Blu-ray audio goes, I would want them to use the originally recorded score, which on the CD sounds superior to the mono track on the DVD. I also would mind them re-building the movies soundtrack, similar to what was done the Psycho BD, and enhancing the sound effects so we get something more dynamic sounding than the DVD mono mix (and providing both options of course).

I've spotted "YADO" on BD here in Italy two days ago.

"YADO" = "RED SONJA".
