Ha! I remember adding that bit myself. I contribute that kind of stuff to Wikipedia regularly.
Yeah, a lot of people seem to be forgetting that this and Atlantis are coming. I guess that's because they don't have release dates yet.

Like speculated on the Brother Bear thread, what would you guys think of this movie coming in a 2-Movie Release bundled with Brother Bear II? Although that second one is not canon, it has a higher RT rating than the original and a lot of Brother Bear fans seem to like it. It wouldn't matter for me since I'm in Europe and we don't get bundles, but ya know..

On the same note - adding Atlantis II to Atlantis would be blasphemy of course.

I really think we should always be given the choice. Many of us don't want the DTV stuff (even if some of it is good) and it completely cheapens the packaging if you ask me. The only films that should be bundled are the theatrical films, like Fantasia/Fantasia 2K, Rescuers/Rescuers Down Under and Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros.

I wouldn't even mind paying the same price for a single film edition of Brother Bear and Atlantis as a 2 pack if they made that available, and I think a lot of people are with me on this. Hopefully we won't see more of these. I never did get Fox and the Hound and I won't be getting Pocahontas as I don't really like those two enough to buy them, but Atlantis, Brother Bear and Hunchback of Notre Dame I do want, and I will be getting them even if they turn out to be double packs, I just hope they're not...

I always intended to get the DTV sequels, so I guess I would be ok with it, although I highly prefer separate releases (or even the sequel being advertised as a bonus feature). I just don't like that the sequels share the same amount of spotlight as the first. I appreciate the sequels for what they are, but I don't pretend that they're equal to their predecessors, which is what Disney does by splitting the covers in half and making big deals out of the sequel being included.

I have been saying the same thing since the Pocahontas announcement was made, but since Disney seems to absolutely hate it's non-uninformed housemother just buying movies for kids-customers, I figured I'd give up on it and accept Disney is forever going to tarnish it's canon titles with cheapquels.

Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros package is a must for me because I wouldn't consider buying either as a standalone.

I wouldn't mind Make Mine Music/Meldoy Time two-packs, nor a Fun and Fancy Free/Ichabod and Mr. Toad two-pack.

Yeah, I actually feel they almost have to do this as they probably won't sell too well if released as stand alone titles, so this would make sense.

I don't understand why BB 2 has a higher RT rating than the original (not that I care but is a little mindblowing that the inferior film will be better regarded than the original). Sure BB 2 is not the worst cheapquel out there but better thab Brother Bear? Come on!

To answer your question regarding the bundle. I don't like it one bit since I don't like any of the DTV sequels (sure some are "pleasant" and "harmless" but enough to buy them? No Way!) but since I already bought The Fox and the Hound bundle and will buy the Pocahontas bundle I guess I will buy the Brother Bear bundle too (I don't like Atlantis) and give away the cheapquel DVD so at least I can pretend is not there at all.

I certainly hope so. That's the only way I'd be willing to pay the money to see them. I'm not into those films, I find them rather depressing, especially Melody Time - I hate that one. Fun and Fancy Free is okay, Ichabod/Mr. Toad is entertaining in it's own right, Caballeros/Amigos.. well I only really like Caballeros.

I'm totally with you there, I'm no fan of 2-Movie Packages with cheapquels outside of the canon. In fact I think it's the worst thing Disney has ever done. It's pure blasphemy. I have never seen Brother Bear 2 for this very reason. I totally love the original though.

It might be funny to us, but if you were Eisner you wouldn't want angry fans calling you in the middle of the night. It's not even a substantial alteration, it's no censorship. I'm fine with it. They've changed much more important things than this.
Well I think Eisner changed his phone number after the premiere of the movie, to be reasonable.
I'd like to give Eisner a call right now..

I find some of the shorts in the package films depressing as well (for some reason). But Melody Time has Bumble Boogie & Blame It on the Samba!! I love those 2 and I hope they give them a good restoration! These shorts (and I'm sure others as well) are all about sound and colour! They could look and sound amazing on Blu-ray!

I'll admit Panchito is more entertaining (if slightly insane) than Jose', and that gives Caballeros a few more points, but they're both good sides of the same coin. Amigos focuses solely on South America but we get a nice artsy 40's-Fantasia style music video for "Brazil", and what Terry Gilliam fan doesn't take that tune to heart?

F3 is half of a good movie (the half with Bergen, McCarthy and Mickey), and I still don't know what's "depressing" about Melody Time--Didn't Make Mine Music have the singing whale?

It's not that bad, and probably one of the better ones (couldn't stand the original, so I can't judge):
It was easier to retread the new films in the same style when they were current, than to do blasphemous Bambi and Jungle Book sequels forty years later, so BB2 plays like a nice Disney Afternoon spinoff with the same cast and characters. (And plot.)

You're right. It was Make Mine Music I always found depressing, not Melody Time. That singing whale - oh my god Disney.

I like Blame it on the Samba! Hope it gets a proper HD transfer with DisneyArt to fill up the black bars!!

Honestly though people I think that unless Disney decides Amigos/Caballeros is marketable we won't be getting these until all the other DACs are out of the way.

(Yeah, but M3 had Benny Goodman in it!)

Well, they are "recognized" now, from the Disneyland parade and Epcot Mexico, so that gives them a "safe" marketing edge over Ichabod & Mr. Toad. (All Mr. Toad has is longtime park-fan recognition.)
Also pretty much guarantees we'll get Amigos/Cabs as a 1+2 in whatever form it appears from now on.

Exactly: That insulting, obnoxious, rambling, detestable, half-written original doesn't DESERVE to be on the same disk with anything as action-based or cool as the Gargoyles-esque sequel.

What did you expect from an opera? A happy ending?

I think a certain rabbit said that, and it's appropriate for the great "Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met" short at the close of Make Mine Music.

Disney animation is not a genre. The creative teams get themselves into trouble with that treat it as such.

I'm not criticizing it, just saying it's not a particularly pleasant movie in my personal opinion. Quality-wise I'd probably rate it higher than junk like Home on the Range, but if you forced me to pick I'd watch Home on the Range since it would leave me with the impression of having watched a coherent movie. Ahh, I don't know if I'm not making sense or whatever, but I just plain don't like Make Mine Music.

It is a great closing for Make Mine Music, which leads me to question why the hell they closed Melody Time with Pecos Bill; not that it's bad...but compare that to Johnny Appleseed, for instance, a much stronger segment within itself. Not the best choice to close the program on if you want to go out with a bit of a bang.
