United Kingdom Blade Runner: 30th Anniversary Collector's Edition (29 October 2012)

Pre-order up for £35 at HMV.

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...anchorSynopsis

Interestingly the site says it contains 4 Blu-rays. Could it be we finally get the five versions in this set?

Release date: 19 November 2012

This may mean we'll finally get the 5 different cuts, however at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the Final Cut and a DVD and Digital Copy.

Time will tell, but at that price it looks promising.

I screamed upon seeing this. I kid you not.

Seriously, Blade Runner is my favourite film and I was hoping we'd get the 30th Anniversary Edition in the UK. The more editions, the better. Maybe I'll get the Steelbook too, but the artwork doesn't do much for me.

I believe everything has been merged - wasn't one of the discs in the five-disc set a DVD? I think it's all just been squashed up (not in a bad way - just better utility of the space).

EDIT: Going by Ain't It Cool (because it was easier to find that one post than go through the US thread on here for this release) the discs break down as such:

Quote:
•Disc 1: Blu-ray of The Final Cut (as it exists already)
•Disc 2: Blu-ray of US Theatrical, International Theatrical, and "Director's Cut" seamlessly branching on one disc (as it exists already)
•Disc 3: Blu-rayof Workprint Cut (UCE Disc 5), Dangerous Days documentary (UCE Disc 2), everything from the UCE "Enhancement Archive"(UCE Disc 4). This disc also includes a new Photo Gallery with "over 1000 new photos", and "more".
•Disc 4: DVD of The Final Cut

2 of the 5 discs were DVD's in the previous set. Those 2 discs were combined with the Workprint disc to all go on 1 BD now.

In the US at least it's as follows:

BD disc 1: Final Cut
BD disc 2: International/Director's/Theatrical cuts
BD disc 3: Special Features and Workprint cut
DVD disc: Final Cut

The digibook just has the 3 BDs

I'm content with my 5-disc US release, at least the UK has an an equivalent to that version now, though.

Yeah we will because hopefully it will be exactly the same as the USA one announced. So we get an art book too and a new spinner!

I hope it'll come down to a reasonable price once it's released. I cannot fork out for a £38+ release

The fact we're getting the edition with all the tat, then I pretty much have considered not buying the upcoming release. I've got the Final Cut on Blu-Ray and I got the Ultimate Collector's Edition on DVD when it first came out back in 2007. Apart from the extras, I only watch the Final Cut on Blu-Ray (which is spectacular)

That beats the UK customs import duty and to confirm it is the boxed set with the car/expanded artbook/4 discs. I'd rather own that than a single disc steelbook especially when it's cheaper...

Chances are being a Warners release it'll be multi-region too for those without a multi-region player...
It can't be an error in listing. Play.com has a placeholder for it too.

I don't like importing. I'd rather pick it up locally.

And exactly how do you know Dangerous Days is in HD? Because everything Ive read says it isnt. It might be on a blu-ray disc now instead of a DVD but that doesnt mean it will be in HD. And it wont.

Im pretty sure the gift set is coming out in the UK as Amazon and Play both have placeholders for it.

And I still dont like that Unicorn cover digibook and Im not buying it!

You are correct Digitalbits have confirmed that Dangerous Days is only in SD but on a BD, from Warner and the disks producers.

They are combining the SD content from the 2 DVDs in the old 5 disk 25th anniversary set (all the extras) plus the work print in HD, which was on a BD25 in that set, onto one BD50. Also adding as new around 1,000 photo gallery in HD.

To include Dangerous Days in HD which is how it was produced would require a 4th BD in the set, something Warner aren't doing. The 4th disk in this set is a superfluous DVD of The Final Cut, along with digital copy crap.

WB have never released any of their deluxe boxsets in the UK so that can only be regarded as ominous. This is probably not the US Collector's set.
