It's not a Blu-ray (yet), but I just got back from finally seeing The Dark Knight Rises.

I don't know, I thought it was a bit of a mess. The editing seemed to be all over the shop, so that many sequences seemed to be both too ponderous overall and too choppy and unclear in detail. I'm not convinced Nolan is so great at directing sequences.

A few technical gripes: as with the previous film, I thought the sound mix in the cinema version was ill-advised — I felt like I was being shouted at all the way through. Plus I thought Bane's ADRd voice was a strange choice — it was clearly an audio overlay, and the shift in audio tone threw me out of the film every time he spoke. (Why exactly did we need another voice like Batman's?)

But I liked the way he and David Goyer wrapped up so many story threads and closed the circle on it all.

You know what really annoys me? How "Ozstrayan" most Australian films are. There are plenty good, even amazing Australian films, but why the hell do they always have to be so on-the-nose?

The most annoying thing is names. I just got The Hunter, I know it is gonna be an AWESOME film, but just reading the back it says "...after teh disappearance of her husband Jarrah, and struggling to care for her two kids Sass and Bike.". And like the Hugo Weaving film Last Ride, the kid is called Chook. Or like Animal Kingdom, "Smurf" and "Baz".

I work in a tool supply firm, and our names are Adam, Paul, John and Ricky. And a few of my mates are Dean, Brice, Greg and Ty. We're all stright-up Australian. In Australian films, everyone seems to be called by a damn ocker moniker. And for the most part people seem to talk like a sheep-shearer! What the heck?!

Rant over. I have nothing against Ausiie films, it just gets my goat when they CONSTANTLY try to prove how Oz" they are, or something. I don't know what it is. They don't run around saying "well gosh-darn-golly-well-tootin'" in great American films, so we don't need to do the same.

That's unfortunate about your HTC supernaut.
I've had a HTC Desire HD and now own a HTC Sensation XL and not once have I encountered a problem.

Ok, just went to watch Titanic which I bought at Big W yesterday an the useless sales girl didn't unlock the damn thing! So now I'll have to take it back, might go to somewhere closer an ask if they'll do it. I know there is a way to unlock them with magnets which I don't have anyways. So damn annoyed!

Up early and spread 4m of topping over the nature strip, compacted it with a plate compactor and cleaned up. Now to sit down and have lunch, then I'm going to watch Raiders Of The Lost Ark before I get ready for work!

Just venting some rage here. I worked an extra 7 hours on top of my contract at work this week (most you guys know where I work I just won't name for legal reasons) and after being excited for a nice sleep in to rest I get a call from them at 6am asking if I can today what the hell is wrong with them!! I told them I can yesterday and they ruin my sleep in by asking again. I almost yelled at the poor girl asking me but I just said no and hung up.
Bloody irritating.

I'm a train driver mate, start work at 5:30pm tonight and finish at 01:00am. I actually don't mind the weekend work, all the days are the same to me. Plus with rotating shifts I have varying hours, this week I'm all late afternoon starts so I have the entire day at home to get things done before heading in. That and the fact that I get paid ridiculously good money for the amount of work I do (we get paid for what we know more than what we do).

Haven't been to the flicks in yonks, so I try to catch up and I get three bad films in one week. Sheesh.

This evening's: Total Recall [2012]
I'd give it points for technical execution, but that's all. It had no rhythm or pacing to it, and beyond being a fairly bog-standard dystopia about a fairly bog-standard dictator who's your fairly bog-standard Snidely Whiplash, what the hell else was this about? Nothing, is the answer.

All I wanted was to get rocked by a bit of high adventure. Not a lot to ask. Instead, I got another bowlful of cineplex-grade Farex.

I get what you mean. Unfortunately, this year's blockbusters have been mostly run of the mill and lacklustre.

But I'll still give em' a shot when they reach $10 movie of the week status, just because I like going to the cinema and watch a movie without disruptions.

Most intense game of the final so far. Getting behind the Eagles.
