Don't mean to be starting a censoring debate, just saying that I've cringed seeing that scene ever since I passed the age of 8. My little sister once asked a Native American man if he lived in a teepee. Oh my god I felt like I could fall through the floor, I felt so bad. ![]() Hoping this movie gets an A-class treatment and doesn't get shat over like Cinderella was.. |

And the usual JM Barrie apology is that these are NOT "real" Indians, any more than Hook and his crew are "real" Pirates, or the animals they pass in the jungle are "real" animals...Everything in Neverland is imagined, so Tiger Lily & co. are pretty much the adventure cliche's that little Georgian-England John and Michael imagine them to be after reading a couple of American James Cooper books. (It is worth noting, however, that they didn't show up in "Return to Neverland". ![]() |

That image is gorgeous. I would love for that to be the cover, but that surely won't happen. Maybe that image will make it on the back cover.
Apparently it is according to someone on UltimateDisney who got an early copy of R1's Cinderella. Supposedly the booklet inside mentions the 2013 Diamonds are Peter Pan for the spring and The Little Mermaid for the fall. No image was provided, though, so who really knows by this point. It's baffling since were it not for Lady and the Tramp's booklet, things would be on-track to follow Disney's original Diamond press release with Aladdin being off and Pan being on. So was Aladdin ever going to be in this collection, or did someone just make a huge blunder when creating Lady's booklet? A part of me hopes the reason Aladdin's been post-poned/dropped is because Disney's doing a 3D conversion of it. I would love to be able to see it on the big screen since I never did as a kid. And before EricJ swoops in with his superiority complex, let me just say that it doesn't matter to me whether Aladdin or Pan's a Diamond. As long as the transfer's top notch and it has worthwhile supplements, I'll be fine. Ideally, I'd like for Disney to create a new documentary/PiP feature for Pan along with giving us The Walt Disney Christmas Show and trailers from the different theatrical releases. Those plus the Platinum supplements would make for a strong set. As for Aladdin, if it turns out to be a Virtual Vault nightmare, I'll just discard the inevitable DVD included in it and replace with the Platinum bonus disc. Let's see what happens. Assuming that this is all true, I sure hope that doesn't mean Aladdin has been delayed for the US; I have been looking forward to it ever since the Lady and the Tramp insert indicated a Spring release. I take a small amount of comfort that there was a German trailer released a few weeks ago, which likewise had no indication of a Diamond Edition but still had a Spring release. Here's to hoping! ![]() |

I totally agree with this. To be honest, with Aladdin falling where it does chronologically between Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, there really is a limited amount of insightful information that can be provided in a documentary compared to the timeline where Peter Pan falls. At least for me, I could see there being better potential features for Pan. I agree as well that an Aladdin 3D transfer would be great.. but as I stated in a prior post, I am extremely impatient and would also be excited for a regular top-notch transfer for Aladdin in the Spring. Only time will tell!

Aladdin was in CAPS, so it can be done, and they're more than likely going to feel some peer pressure that the other three of the "Big Four" made it to 3D. Quote:

Just a couple of abandaoned songs, and a multipart documentary with Musker, Clements and Gilbert Gottfried--Which, although informative (especially about the early abandoned shooting drafts), wasn't anything that wouldn't fit on the disk in SD. And even then, they'll probably throw it out and reshoot the highlighted info for an HD featurette. VV tends to be for what won't fit on the disk, as it's too expensive now to make a Blu-ray Disk 2 for bonus features, now that they have to cram in those stupid DVD's and DC disks. They're only hurting themselves. (...He told himself, having already sold off his DVD copy to Amazon months ago. ![]() |

Now, all that can fit quite comfortably on a single Blu-ray with the film itself. Alice in Wonderland had about the amount of SD content (around 2.5 hours) plus another 1.5 hour's worth of HD content not including the film itself. So if Disney is using space as an excuse for the Virtual Vault, I'm not buying it. |

Thanks Mad Kiwi. I guess that means Pan's in, Aladdin's out and Europe have decided to drop the line altogether since Pan is coming out as a "regular edition" in the last quarter of 2012 in various places across the pond.

Guys I'm almost sure its fan art not only is it amazingly good, too good for disney, the studio is stated as "disney" it would be walt disney studios home entertainment or buena vista studios. Which means its a placeholder that someone made and someone put artwork for it. I still think it will be a diamond edition though. At this time I'm really unsure if its a diamond edition or not, Walmart doesn't have it listed as one like they do cindy, but heck they have the wrong cover art -_-

[Show spoiler] Same logo. Plus, the placeholder image for the BD was uploaded by Amazon themselves. When a user uploads a photo, Amazon credits them. |

Disney rarely does that nowadays, and usually if they do a new featurette it is either too short or is done to promote something else entirely. Aladdin was a rarity in that it didn't try to link itself too much to any existing Disney attraction (save for a slight promo of the Aladdin musical), and everything felt relevant. Even the Genie world tour and Magic Lamp featurettes were very funny and entertaining. I think Disney can EASILY put all of that onto one disc. The Moulin Rouge proved that you can have stunning video on the main feature, many sound options, NEW HD extras, classic DVD extras in SD and even new featurettes that weren't present in the original DVD release. I wouldn't mind if the Aladdin Blu Ray is just a copy of the Platinum as I never fully owned the movie on DVD when it came out, and I love it so much I would like to own it. But that means if it has no crappy second screen feature or the classic features have been sent to the Virtual Vault. |
