Just got this, and it looks great. Epson 5040 with Panasonic 820.

I'm still getting used to how dim 3D movies are though. Keep trying to adjust the settings to be brighter without ghosting and losing too much contrast.

Might not matter so much with an Epson, but the contrast increase from active shutter glasses made up for the dimming IMO. I haven't really seen ghosting be caused by adjusting settings, but I could see how that could happen with an Epson, since it uses LCD tech.

In general, I'm hoping that we get at least 240 Hz glasses next year, as 240 Hz projectors are established tech now, and they'd dim the image only half as much.

Tech musing aside, I'm glad JP3D still looks great on your setup.

thanks! Someday in 5 years+ I'll get a newer native 4K projector that hopefully still does 3D (the new Epsons don't).

This is one of my favorite movies of all time AND on of my favorite 3D conversions, what a treat for me. This is one I come back to a few times a year when I need something easy and familiar — my “comfort food.” I have an Epson 5050 with somewhere between 1500-2000 hours in the OEM bulb and I find the 3D mode to be actually more comfortable! The brightness level on 2D content (using Natural mode with lamp set to medium) is almost uncomfortable to me now. With no details on your setup/settings, the only thing I can recommend is trying the bright mode with the bulb set to High power, or replacing with a new Epson bulb if your lamp hours are high.

thanks! So, I have a new bulb (actually replacement projector of recent) and I'm using high power. If I set the 3D to high bright, I see trails/ghosting, and even sometimes on Medium. So I set to low. I'm using the 3D settings on this post, and I'm projecting a spandex custom screen (which I believe is 0.7 gain) which could be part of it. Running acoustic transparent setup.

Finally seeing this in 3D (halfway through). Surprised that 3D is so strong! More surprised that movie itself is better than I remember. Loving it!

JP1 benefitted from the suspense that they could never put into future movies because those needed to ramp up the action.

Loved the fantastic 3D on this. The color timing was a bit disappointing though.

Agreed. Mostly strong 3D layering for this excellent 3D conversion that took the classic Dinosaur film to the next level of immersion as if you were almost there.

Really hope my theater gets this, hopefully in Prime 3D. Tickets go on sale tomorrow I believe.

I wish I could have first seen this in 3D. Sadly no subsequent viewings have ever recaptured the magic of the first, maybe because of The Lost World?

I never got to see this one theatrically, so hopefully I'll be able to. Fingers crossed that Cinemark offers this at sensible times, as the other August creature-feature, Meg2, has the worst showtimes possible here.

That's cool it's going to be in the theaters in 3D. I think it's the best Jurassic Park movie and it has incredible 3D.

Cool. Enjoy. Really cool to see these dinosaurs more immersive in stronger 3D.

An excellent 3D conversion for sure with plenty of strong 3D shots and some medium layers in there too.

Got tickets to see it on August 24th. The only showtime was 4PM, and 7PM on some other days. Kind of wish they had earlier showtimes too.

I saw it in 3D the first time and it is incredible! I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen it in 3D on the big screen to check it out. So worth it.

Agreed. A mostly strong 3D conversion. Hardly any mild 3D and a great example of an immersive 3D converted film.

I saw this for free theatrically three times thanks to Universals 100th Anniversary promotion.

Yeah the 3D is pretty great for this, I wish they would convert more movies from the past forty years to 3D.
