Really hope they're not expensive steelbook releases. They're expensive enough as it is on their website, but living in Australia, I'd have to pay even more elsewhere just to get it. Street Trash was a terrific release and I am more than happy with the regular packaging. Pleeeeaaassse just give us standard releases. I'm so excited for these to be released in what will likely be the definitive release on blu-ray.

I had really wanted to get the Demons blus, but not for $50 a pop. I hope they don't do the same for the other two releases.

I agree, please don't Demonize the other Argento films. Or anything else that expensive, exclusive, limited, and not available in amaray.

Wow, I was so focused on my Demons blu-ray's that I completely spaced the fact that Synapse is going to be releasing Tenebrae, Phenomena & SUSPIRIA in 2014!

I could see that, regardless, I wasn't expecting we'd be getting phenomena and tenebrae so soon, so that will definitely hold me off until suspiria

Am I the only person on the planet who loves the Demons steelbooks and looks forward to newly commissioned artwork? It's nice to see something fresh created by an artist for a movie that's important to me. I don't have an issue with the these or anything from Shout Factory. If you want the original poster art... buy a poster. Or download it and make it your desktop wallpaper. You're going to buy the blu-ray to watch it, not stare at the packaging, right?

This is moving along so slow that we'll have The Abyss and True Lies before we see any of these titles.

What a crummy comment - they are coming this year plus Synapse is 2 people, Don and Jerry. That is how they operate. It is will worth the wait but he never said coming January 2014...Im sure later this year we will have them

tenebrae was good...i put it at the same level as opera....
deep red was a bit better than both..i think.

anyway i already imported all the argento stuff...the transfers have to be revelations or full of extras for me to double dip.

Given their past history, I think its pretty safe to say that they will more than likely be both of those.

I think it will go something like this:

Countess Dracula
Manos: The Hands of Fate (they have said it will begin authoring VERY soon)
Long Weekend
Prom Night
Curtains
Tenebre
Phenomena

then THundercrack, McBain, and Suspiria in 2015.

Smallish updates regarding the status of Tenebrae and Phenomena:

So, we have to make our releases from the masters received. While the presentations are arguably the "best" they've looked, they certainly aren't representative of what "I" would've done, if given the chance. I just have to make the best of what we have, and for TENEBRAE and PHENOMENA, this is going to take a little time.

I'm more than willing to be patient. These are my 2 favorite Argento films, and I'd like them to look as stunning as possible. I must be one of the only few people actually hoping for these to get the pricey steelbook treatment. I'll slap my $$$ down DAY ONE.

That's sad news. What we will get then will be the best there is so far but still rather problematic.

I think the comment about the Wild Side restorations being not so great is a fair one.

I have the French Blu-ray of Tenebrae and both Arrow releases, the Wild Side transfer is much better than the old Arrow but it's hardly amazing.

To be honest I'm much more interested to know what's happening with Suspiria, that really needs a better Blu-ray release. And when is someone going to release Opera?

Synapse haven't begun any work on Suspiria for the moment. Hopefully a 2015 release.

I get so excited when this thread is updated. Looking forward to Phenomena the most...just love that
[Show spoiler]killer monkey. Which is funny, as there is an episode of Monk that revolves around a murder that implicates a monkey. There is a scene (like in Phenomena) where the monkey is wielding a knife after supposedly murdering someone in a panic room.
I wonder if it was a slight nod or homage to Argento?

Ugh, those transfers really got a ton of flack from the Argento fan community. I really hope this doesn't mean the same will be true of Suspiria since that one's blu-ray releases have been even worse.
