I hadn't heard of the Clair film, but I always enjoy a good Faust tale.

Cohen Media Group has revealed that it is preparing a Blu-ray release of director Ziad Doueiri's The Attack a.k.a L'attentat (2012), starring Ali Suliman, Evgenia Dodena, and Reymond Amsalem. The preliminary release date set by the studio is November 12th.

Quote:
Amin Jaafari is an Israeli Palestinian surgeon, fully assimilated into Tel Aviv society. He has a loving wife, an exemplary career, and many Jewish friends. But his picture-perfect life is turned upside down when a suicide bombing in a restaurant leaves nineteen dead, and the Israeli police inform him that his wife Sihem, who also died in the explosion, was responsible. Convinced of her innocence, Amin abandons the relative security of his adopted homeland and enters the Palestinian territories in pursuit of the truth. Once there, he finds himself in ever more dangerous places and situations. Determined, he presses on seeking answers to questions he never thought he would be asking.

The Attack is adapted from Yasmina Khadra's international bestseller of the same name. Originally published in 2005, the novel has been translated into more than 40 languages and has won numerous awards worldwide.

I really hate that massive and intrusive C on every cover. Besides, there's *ahem* already a company that's been stamping a trademark C on their releases for years...

More than the C, I hate that red cover they use.

Default The Damned (Les Muadits)

My copy of Rene Clement's The Damned has shipped from ImportCDs. This is a blind buy for me, but I have heard of the film. WWII, drama, submarines, a renowned director, beautiful black and white cinematography.......very excited to get this.

I have to say that Cohen's trailers can be very persuasive:

I don't yet have the U.S. release, but I have the French release. Gaumont's restoration is excellent - wonderful organic presentation of the film. It is on par with what Canal did for Marcel Carne's:

...which is another very delicate film that now looks terrific.

The Cohen release of Clement's The Damned comes from the Gaumont resto, so it should look virtually identical to the French release

Thanks for the information, Pro-b. Hopefully, Cohen also has Les Quai des Brumes. I am very impressed with Cohen thus far.

I just noticed I have fat-fingered a typo in the title to my post above (should be Les Maudits).

Les Quai des Brumes will be with Lionsgate due to their Studio Canal connections. Cohen has been licensing from Gaumont and it's great to see such relatively little-seen gems getting a release. I've e-mailed some suggestions to Cohen for other titles they can licence as there's some great and/or interesting stuff not readily available with English subtitles:

That's what I was afraid of. Not a fan of Lionsgate at all. My impression of them is that they are just about the worst distributor at releasing catalog films that they hold rights. They hold some of my most wanted catalog and foreign titles, yet never release them. What good is their agreement as Studio Canal's US distributor if we rarely get more than a few titles a year from them here?

I have been researching this but to no avail. I really hope the source elements are in very nice condition for this release.

Just watched the Bronte Sisters, which I thought was a great release overall.

There are a variety of elements preserved in the BFI National Archive that Cohen could try and access for Jamaica Inn
