Any word on a release date for Wolfwalkers? I'm assuming it will get a BD release. Can't wait to see this film. Tomm Moore's work never ceases to amaze me.

I was lucky to see it in a theater as part of a three-day Fathom event, and it's gorgeous. I'd kill me if it didn't receive a Blu release.

It has been advertised as "Exclusive to Apple" and "Apple TV+ Original." I think there's a good chance this will remain a streaming exclusive with no physical release. :-(

Maybe it's still too early to know anything concrete about it, but I suspect that this is another "Grave of the Fireflies" scenario, where GKIDS was only granted the theatrical rights of Wolfwalkers, while another company is in charge of its home video distribution. Hopefully we can at least still get a Collector's Edition like the ones from Promare and Weathering With You? It is still strange to have this air of uncertainty at all, Wolfwalkers and all of Cartoon Saloon's films deserve the best home media treatment of all, and streaming is not it. They absolutely are prime material for 4K UltraHD Blu-ray.

But hey, not all is lost yet! If anything goes wrong, we should still be getting another European hand-drawn film featuring wolf women in a few years from now. It's called "Chica y Lobo" (Girl and Wolf), based on the graphic novel by Roc Espinet and produced by Spanish animation studios who have previously worked on titles distributed by GKIDS (most specifically, "Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles" by Hampa Studios and Sygnatia). So now Wolfwalkers is getting a fully matching thematic counterpart, just as much like we have Antz and A Bug's Life, The Road to El Dorado and The Emperor's New Groove, Titan A.E. and Treasure Planet, all excellent films I must add. Let's just hope this time "Chica y Lobo" does NOT get taken by a streaming platform in the first place...

I got the re-release of Chico and Rita from Best Buy and it did not come with a slipcover.

i just asked this(about Cat in Paris specifically) in the other thread. Had no idea there were two threads. I received A Cat in Paris today and it didn't have a slip.

Hope it is proven to be wrong but even so i am missing another slip anyway so that's already a "problem"

I'm going to order Chico and Rita and Kells soon. I'll see what happens

The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl is apparently being released to streaming with an English dub. Is there any reason to think GKIDS might re-release it on disc with the dub included?

Any updates if Wolfwalkers is getting a physical release considering how these digital deals aren't forever (and netflix and amazon let releases go onto physical after a certain time, so apple would most likely do the same)

I think it would be a waste if they didn't, personally; but then I suppose it depends on how the "dub" audience crosses over with the home video audience.
I admit, I might be willing to buy it again for that, even though I prefer sub usually... *sigh*

Meanwhile, I just watched Wolfwalkers and I'm REALLY hoping GKIDS can release this on Blu-ray. I want a copy of this film for myself!!

...In other news, I just discovered that the soundtrack will be soon released on Compact Disc with pre-orders available now here! I believe this is the first time we'll see anything about Wolfwalkers being officially released on optical media commercially. I don't know for how long will it be available (the one for Song of the Sea completely vanished off the online marketplace circa late 2017), so for those who are interested, get yours while you can!

So I'm a little confused, but those comments make it seem like a Blu-ray isn't a sure thing? I thought we were simply waiting.

I've personally have never heard of this website, but they seem to be denoting that a bluray will be released but date TBD.

I hope so. It's probably the most important animated film of 2020 and a lot of people really don't have Apple TV. Hope the Blu-ray isn't too far out.

I missed the brief theatrical release window (I was out of town), and I had no intent of getting AppleTV just to see this, thankfully tonight was the last night this was up to view in streaming form via, and support of the AFI Silver, with a post 30 minute Q&A with the directors - I'm glad I held out.

Hopefully with the Oscar nomination later this morning (if they don't get one, I'll eat my hat) maybe this will push GKids to speed up the mass bluray release.
