After 1.50 patch.

Blu-ray formats BD-ROM and BD-R/RE plus DVD formats DVD-ROM, DVD-R/RW+2, DVD+R/RW+2 will then be playable.

The formats not supported are Blu-ray 3D, BD-R/RE XL and BD-RE ver.1.0.

I was about to do this. Decided to wait & test system of actual Internet I get out of the thing. 300MB on N wireless should take around 3 minutes. Also this round of consoles N is built in unlike current external ones on Xbox 360 for example. I hope the antenna is greatness!!!

I hardwired both PS3s - though it occurs to me now I may need to bump the living room PS3 to wireless to give the PS4 the hard line. Will be interesting to see how quickly it runs for me on the cat5 - on the PS3 downloads can be incredibly hit or miss even with a 15-25 Mbps FIOS line.

I wish I could go wired. I have 11 devices that actively use WiFi.

Why not buy a cheap network switch and hook 'em all up? That's what I did in my living room - single CAT5 run behind the equipment rack with a 10/100 switch to my console, AVR and Blu-ray player.

This is probably old news according to Engage after installing 1.50 Blu-ray 3D is supported:

http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/09/x...-ray-playback/

Not sure who to believe here. Probable have to wait and see.

I'll be sure to pop in a 3D movie to see if it works. That would be one launch annoyance gone for me.

Just download it on your pc & create 2 folders like this.

PS4
UPDATE

The update folder goes into the ps4 folder. And you know where the firmware update goes.

Doesn't matter how fast Wireless N can transfer files. If your actual internet speed is only 6Mbps or so, that's how fast your download will be. Wireless G is capable of 54mbps. You might not see a difference, when compared to the PS3, unless you have an extremely fast downstream.

The advantage to Wireless N, however, is that fewer people are on it and it is less susceptible to interference from access points nearby. If you're on wireless G and have a PC or laptop that has WiFi, I strongly suggest downloading a program called inSSIDer. It's free and will show you the channel and signal strength of all the surrounding access points so that you can set your wireless router to the clearest possible channel. The better your signal strength and the less overlap you have with others nearby, the better your latency and possible range will be.

Same here. Hopefully Sony changed their strict PS3 view on Soundtrack game music taking precedent over what the gamer wants to hear for music.

GT5 was the only PS3 game I have where I could play my own tunes on the PS3 while playing the game at the same time.

Hopefully Sony will offer the updates on the game discs also, for those who live in rural areas and don't get high speed internet or any internet, as they did with the PS3 games, so when you put them in, they prompted to update your console's firmware. This was true with some blu ray 3D discs also, like Underworld Awakening 3D.

Or just hard wire everything and be in the clear. At home, only phones use the Wi-Fi.

Option 1 for sure for those that have it.

I'm basing comparisons between WiFi N (Xbox 360) vs WiFi b/g (PS3) at 20mb/s

Heck if my iPad can get 19mb/s on "N" 99% of the time! I don't see why not the PS4 can't give me that. Also the router is fairly close on the same level.

Speaking of...

I wonder if we will get an est. Internet speed under Test Connection like we do with PS3 now?

Weird, and it kind of sucks, since my PS3 is our only BD3D player right now. So I guess I'll have to rethink/arrange the connections to the receiver now.

I'm hopeful at least that they will eventually support 3D Blu-Ray, especially as it supports games in 3d at least.

Wow Blu Rays and DVDs,.... no word yet on DivX?

Sony releasing the worlds first Blu Ray player that doesn't play CDs still simply blows me away. I'm heard people talk smack about them being anti-customer but this is AMAZING.
