They should go with this as the front cover:

I noticed that to, and personally i'm happy about that. Always thought it was a waist of materials giving you a DVD that most people don't touch. You have the Blu-ray for watching at home & the digital copy for watching on the go. What more do you need?

Well, pre-orders were up for paying $27.99 for a 3D Blu-Ray, 2D Blu-Ray, DVD, and a DC. The pre-orders were obviously cancelled because Disney decided to remove the DVD from the combo pack yet keeping the price the same, and in so doing increasing their profit. Thus, you are now essentially paying more for less. Personally, I don't need the DVD or the DC but if like already mentioned the price needs to drop along with the removal of these items. However, I'm sure there are parents out there who share the discs amongst their family.

Yeah I give the Dvd's to my nephew and Brother. Kinda annoyed about that and especially they are charging the same.

I agree. While I'm perfectly fine with the DVD being gone, the price should have dropped as well. It doesn't make sense to pay the same exact price for something that includes less material.

I personally fine with one or the other. I like DVD and the Digital Copy that way I can take it with me on the go. I don't have a Blu-ray 3D player but if the regular Blu-ray is not going to have the digital copy but the Blu-ray 3D will, I will probably get the Blu-ray 3D just to keep the digital copy. I have "Oz the Great and Powerful" on Blu-ray with only the digital copy and I am able to survive. I use Disney Movie Rewards and end up getting "John Carter" and "Tron: Legacy" on Blu-ray 3D, so I don't see why not to doing it to "Thor: The Dark World" just for a digital copy.

See, I'm on the fence. I don't use DVD and don't really use digital copies either. I do like having the DVD kicking around though in case I want to loan it to somebody. Also, as a 3D owner, I do worry that the technology of current 3D will be phased out, and I could live with that. But if so, I want to know I also have a 2D Blu-ray in the pack.

The price *did* drop. I think the original price is around $32? Now it's $29. Problem is, most other studios' 3D BD comes with DVD at the same price. Disney's Blu-ray are still expensive, despite this change. It's even more disappointing to know the prices are at its lowest on release day and hardly drop after that. It's as if Disney is challenging you to buy their movies if you remotely like their titles.

The good thing is, on the technical quality side, their Blu-rays seldom disappoint.

I definitely want the 2D Blu-Ray along with the 3D as sometimes I'd rather watch in 2D than 3D depending on the mood I'm in.

So it seems that the 3D/2D combo pack is the only release that has a slip-cover?

Me too, but mostly because I'm afraid I've left the case open and the discs will fall out. I'm old.

No official word on date?

Don't know if I'll be holding off for the inevitable Phase 2 set like I wanted to last time (at this point, I may as well just start collecting the films individually), but I'm tempted to get this. The covers are a bit awful, though.
