Holy hell, what an epic season finale. Just as totally epic as last season's finale.

[Show spoiler]Silver will be splitting from Flint and Billy and most of the crew will be taking Silver's side next season. I can't take it

I can't possibly wait another 10 months for the next season. Where are those cryogenic pods when I need them?

Default Great Season Finale

The special effects in this show are top notch. The 7.1 surround sound effects in last night's finale were fantastic. Probably the best surround sound of any TV show on today.

It finally happened. Years of waiting. Since the first time he said his last name.

Long.

John.

Silver.

Get ready for war!

Seen 5 episodes so far from season 3 and it's great. I was long waiting for a pirate tv show and this is the best thing happened in pirate movies/tv shows. If you are interested in more like Black sails be sure to checkout Crossbones 2014. John Malkovich

Starz’s ‘Black Sails’ To End With Season 4

Quote:
Starz just announced that the fourth season of its original series Black Sails will be its last. The 10-episode Season 4 of the Treasure Island prequel returns in 2017 with its pirates at war in the West Indies.“It’s a rare privilege in television to be given the kind of creative freedom we’ve enjoyed on this show over the last four years. While it was a difficult decision for us to make this season our last, we simply couldn’t imagine anything beyond it that would make for a better ending to the story nor a more natural handoff to Treasure Island,” said series co-creator and executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg. “We’d like to thank Chris, Carmi and everyone at Starz for all their faith and support, and to our astounding cast and crew for joining us on this ride.”

“Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine, along with their crew and the phenomenal cast, have delivered a spectacular take on the most legendary pirate story in literature, and this final season will bring us to the shores of Treasure Island as was always intended,” said Starz Managing Director Carmi Zlotnik. “’Black Sails’ has been a tremendous success; from the loyal fan following and strong viewership numbers to awards recognition and the skill of our world-class production in Cape Town, we could not be more proud of this very special series.”

Black Sails is the first Starz original series to go beyond three seasons, a high water mark previously set by Spartacus: Blood and Sand (which also did a prequel miniseries) and Da Vinci’s Demons.

The first three seasons of Black Sails averaged 3.6 million multi-platform viewers per episode according to Nielsen and Rentrak. The series has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards, and won in 2014 for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, and Outstanding Sound Editing. The show was also nominated for the 2016 GLAAD Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.

Black Sails follows the most feared pirate of the day, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island. The series is created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine and executive produced by Steinberg, Levine, Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, as well as Chris Symes, Brad Caleb Kane and Dan Shotz. Black Sails is distributed in nearly 200 countries and territories worldwide.

That is very heartbreaking. At least we're getting four seasons with a definitive ending and not an open ended cliffhanger as a result of a last second cancellation.

This show has quickly become my second favorite show ever. I would've loved to have seen at least a fifth season, but at least we got this far.

Gutted to hear this, but glad they are able to end this phenomenal series on their terms.
This is one of those rare shows that has captivated me start to(I'm assuming) finish. I will gladly dip on a complete series set...please make it happen!

So they're making a Treasure Island adaption after this or they just mean it sorta flushes up to the start of the book. I'm kinda hoping for that Treasure Island adaption with lots of hot Caribbean hookers and blood and gore.

Black Sails has been a great series but it's coming to an end with the fourth season. According to Slashfilm, the upcoming Fourth Season will end the series.

I'll be adding Jonathan E. Steinberg to my list of movies or television shows to avoid in the futureth at HE produces, directs or appears in. The man thanked everyone BUT the fans for supporting the series:

Kind of arrogant NOT to thank the fans for their support and I have to say that it's arrogant for a producer or director not to support the fans who continue to watch something they are directing or producing.

I'm looking forward to the final season of Black Sails more than the last two seasons of Game of Thrones. Yeah, I said it. Come at me.

Not me - GOT gets my vote cause of the fantasy element - i like the dragons/magic/walkers part makes it bigger more fun than black sails where its just the normal world we live in.

Its why i like star wars/star trek.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge GoT fan for the same reason as you. I just love the characters in Black Sails a little bit more. Obviously if you notice my username and avatar. Flint's dialogue transcends everything.

Plus pirates are badass.
