Universal UK do region lock as I have already posted in this thread. There release of Good Vibrations was RB locked last year. Universal US may never region lock but Universal UK whom we are referring to here do occasionally lock titles to RB when they only have UK or European rights.

It depends I guess in this case if Universal have any rights in a RA country or if they are Paramount or other studios.

This is an independent picture with different rights holders in different countries not a globally release by a Hollywood studio.

"Precious post"? lol
I think you got enough examples now to prove universal does lock their releases sometimes. If not then look up silent hill revelation in USA. It's region A locked.
Now I rest my case.

The regular release explicitly says Region free in the title on Amazon UK. I know there are very rare cases when they've said region free and it turned out to be locked, but I'd have to say well over 90% of the time it really is region free. So I'm personally 99.9% sure that this will be region free

Has this release, or the UK release in general, been confirmed as the extended cut? Or is that still rumored, at this point?

There isn't going to be an extended cut released, the original rumour has since been shot down. It's covered a couple of pages back.

I wish but bear in mind that's what we all thought about Gangs of New York a whole decade (and change) ago...

It was GBP 21 at outset when I pre-ordered at Amazon. They obviously thought with Zavvi more they could push up the price.
Remember they are now the only two mainstream online retailers left selling this type of BD. Only other would be wait for an HMV in store price at release assuming your local store stocks it.

Surely you mean: "Assuming you have a local store"?
I have one 20miles east and one 20miles sw, I rely on online retailers like Amazon, not so much Zavvi though

Amazon as far as I am aware now only price match Tesco online prices.

They previously price matched Play and HMV online prices but as neither still trades online they don't. Remember although Play still exists it is a trading site similar to Amazon Marketplace so no price matches.

Other sites including Asda and Sainsburys online were never price matched.

Also remember Base.com use card pouch mailers so no extra protection for steelbooks unlike the custom mailers used by Amazon UK and Zavvi.

Amazon will occasionally price match in-store prices, especially where HMV manages to offer a good price on new releases (e.g. when it had Hobbit 3D for £15). Of course, that normally happens the afternoon of release day so it doesn't help with pre-orders, nor will it probably apply here as HMV's decent prices usually apply to Warner and Fox releases, whom they seem to have a good relationship with.

It's worth noting though that if Amazon drop the price on release day, even after sending your item you will get refunded by however much the price dropped since their pre order gaurentee covers day of release too.
