I wonder if Vudu simply doesn't have it yet but will be getting it or if is another strange deal like the HBO crap? They shouldn't be called UV unless they are at least available at all UV storefronts imo. |

I went to redeem the code on Vudu but of course there wasn't a redeem option there and when I read the card more closely it gave instructions to redeem via the Sony site. Should I just follow the instructions and redeem through the Sony site or is it better to enter the code on the UV site? Or does it matter? Obviously I would like to access this through as many providers as possible but my main/preferred provider for accessing UV files is Vudu, so I definitely want to make sure I can access it through there if possible. I know when I redeemed Breaking Bad I did it through the Sony site and then it showed up in my Vudu account automatically. In general, does it matter where you redeem a code in terms of how that affects through which UV streaming providers you will be able to access the file? Or does it not really matter and as long as the provider has the rights to that title will it autmatically show up in the respective library regardless of where the code is entered. I guess I usually try to redeem UV codes in Vudu whenever possible even if the instructions say to redeem it on the studio's site but would like to know if it actually matters or not in terms of how it impacts access from different streaming providers. I guess my above question also applies to The Lego Movie. I just went try to redeem that one and it also doesn't have a redeem link on Vudu. It just gives instructions to redeem on flixster.
If I do that, will that movie also show up in my Vudu library? I'm still trying to figure out the ins and outs of the UV stuff and all the various providers. I'm afraid that if I enter the code on flixster that it won't show up on Vudu and since I would have already used the code at that point I won't be able to get it into Vudu later. |

You can redeem almost every movie at Vudu, that's how I do it, and I redeemed Lego there too.... |

How did you redeem Lego on Vudu? When I search for Lego and get to the page for that title I don't see the Redeem link that you usually see towards the top, right. That's what I usually do, but Lego (and also House of Cards S1) doesn't have that Redeem link. |

I didn't realize there was a general redemption section on Vudu. I had been redeeming codes by finding the movie and then clicking the little "Redeem UV" button in the upper right side of the screen. The only problem with that is that not every movie or show (like the two above) have that link for some reason. ![]() Anyway, thanks a lot, it's really helpful to know about this general redemption section on Vudu for future reference. I guess regarding my other question, does it matter where you redeem a code in the sense of potentially limiting your viewing options? Or will all titles port automatically to all your libraries of the different streaming services (Vudu, flixster, CN, TT, etc...) that are linked to the same UV account as long as those particular services have the proper rights/licenses for the movie? Or can you potentially cut yourself out of being able to view a movie on a particular service that you potentially could have used because you redeemed the code elsewhere? |

That's partly why I have so many unredeemed codes because I'm semi-paralyzed because I don't want to miss out on (A) being able to access the file through as wide a range of providers as possible, but especially my primary one (Vudu) and (B) any freebies/extras/bonus stuff that may be exclusive or only obtainable if redeemed through a particular vendor. I guess if members also posted about any variances in bonus or extra content based on where you redeem a code that could be incorporated into the list in the OPs. Quote:
I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw GL: EK show up in my account. (I wish that would happen more often). I have the 3D version of GL and I probably redeemed in sometime in the past month or two. I've had it since it came out but never got around to redeeming it until now, partly because I resisted using UV for a long while (I think GL 3D may have been the first title I got that had a UV code). Plus, it seems to be the most easily accessible app on variuos devices (BD, TV, Roku, iDevices, etc...). Yes, I'm sure a lot of of the other apps are probably also available but it seems often Vudu comes built in and also I got used to the Vudu from doing all the D2D. |

Before I only cared about and used iTunes stuff, but now that I use both, of course I want to maximize code usage across both formats if possible. I usually enter UV only or iTunes only codes most readily since it seems like you don't have any options and there's nothing to potentially mess up, then the ones that say you have both (although part of me still wonders if I might do something wrong and only get 1), and lastly the ones where it says one or the other. Those I usually just hold off on until I can research the title and find a clear answer, but sometimes there isn't one for every title. Plus that takes time, especially if it's a lot of titles and not just a few, and so I usually don't get around to it and then the codes sit in their cases on my shelf unredeemed for a long time, especially since I have so many titles that I need to look into, and the list of unentered, backlogged codes just grows. But from the above posts, it looks like some of the older Universal titles are the ones that may benefit from the iTunes directly first and then iTunes or UV second protocol? When there is a potential to get a DC in more than 1 format when it only states you are supposed to get one (iTunes OR UV), is the recommeded protocol usually iTunes directly first and then the UV? |

OK, I see that with Parenthood it doesn't actually say iTunes or UV, but it's iTunes only. I guess it then later became UV eligible and so may give you both.
I see that's what TheDean actually posted but I didn't read it carefully enough. I wonder if the code is still good, it says it technically expired on 12/31/13. How is Universal with their DC expiration deadlines and/or requests for replacement of expired codes. I know some studios just extend their expiration dates or just issue you a new code if you ask them and the code you have was expired and not redeemed previously. Also, regarding Ron Burgundy, did only the WM SB version come with the DC code? I have the Rich Mahogany Edition and it didn't come with a code. |

Parenthood (the Uni 100th Anniversary edition which came with an iTunes only code (no disc)) has a 12/31/13 expiration date but I just redeemed a copy successfully today (7/8/14). It was an HD copy too. Then I went and entered the code on Vudu as TheDean described and got an HDX copy there too. Thanks, TheDean! |
