Silly question actually.
I can't hate something I've not seen. After I've seen it I can form an opinion.
If I form an opinion based on trailers then I'd hate the trailers.

Likely because prior to Ordinary People she was predominately known as a comic actress and this was the first time she really showed off her dramatic chops and portrayed an unlikable character.

I don't disagree with any of that, really. But she was awesome on her show, for example. And while certainly almost mostly a comedy, it managed to deal with many of the issues of the day, it just usually did it in a funny or a sort of implication of what it meant to be in her position during that era.

And like I said, she was just so great in it!

Damn, that show was funny.

The first Deadpool. I don't love it but I own it now and I rewatch it here and there. It isn't great by any means but the humor isn't as cringe inducing as the trailers and marketing made it out to be.

Tell that to everyone rating Captain Marvel 1 star on RT.

Hate isn’t the word at all, but I avoided Harry Potter all throughout high school and just assumed I wouldn’t like it. I just thought it was going to be too juvenile, weird, and I wasn’t into “magic” etc. Then in college my girlfriend (now wife) basically said nope, you’re watching these. So much to my shock I binged the entire series of the movies over the course of a week and totally fell in love. It’s easily one of my favorite movie franchises of all-time now. I retroactively was bummed I missed the experience of the books and movie premieres.

Stupid belief and ideology to follow, disliking something before even really knowing it. That's just ignorant.

Unless I watched it, I don't feel jackshit for it. I might have a desire to not see it for this or that reason. But no real opinion of a film that I haven't actually seen.

Casino Royale.

I was furious when I found out that Pierce Brosnan had been replaced with Daniel Craig.

I didn't bother seeing it at the cinema until I was bought the DVD. As soon as I watched it I really enjoyed it.

To this day I still don't consider Craig as Bond, but CR was just brilliant.

I would have thought that was obvious and I see RCRochester already answered correctly for me. I was a huge fan of the MTM show and a moderate fan of the Dick Van Dyke show. Nothing prepared me for her dramatic portrayal in Ordinary People.

I was fairly young at the time, so maybe I hadn't made the connection yet. I just figured she was playing a different sort of role.

Just like, say, today Clooney is in everything from dramas which take place on the international stage to heist flicks to whacky comedies to romantic movies. And of course he started out on TV too, though in a much different of show, granted.

I love this morning show...not. Michael Strahan was maybe 8 years old when that show ended. I guess the producers gave him a couple of clips to watch and told him to pick one.

I don't hate films i haven't seen. There's always the possibility to like a film that had piss poor marketing.... and I don't like the taste of crow. At best, a film doesn't spark my interest, but that isn't the same as hate

Is everybody going to eventually chime in and proclaim they don't hate something in advance? Come on, it was just a provocative title that was explained well enough in the OP if you bothered to read it.

The Lone Ranger (2013). I hated it, all those overblown Pirates of the Caribbean films made by the director Gore Verbinski, & this looked to be the same, throw money at it & go big, also I'm no fan of Johnny Depp. Then I saw the first twenty minutes of it on TV & thought, I dunno, I might actually like this, so I bought the Blu-ray s/hand for just a couple of pounds, & I do love it, I've watched it twice. I could do without the train chase at the end that's stupid & goes on too long, but that apart, great!

Dunno if I ever hated a movie before seeing it, but there have been some that I was pessimistic about or not expecting much from. Then I saw them and they surprised me. The most recent example would probably be Solo. I also remember being very surprised by how much I liked Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Oh, I don't like it either. But of course, that's not why I posted that clip.

MTM was hilarious. I especially liked the episode, and I don't remember what started it, where Lou refused to be Mary's friend anymore.

There have definitely been times where I thought something would be terrible or meh but was proven wrong. Some examples would be:

How to Train Your Dragon
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Guardians of the Galaxy
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (boy was I wrong about that one!)
