No they’re not. It was a Dino De Laurentiis production. There are different rights holders for his films worldwide which is why some of them have been released in other countries, just like King Kong.

Yeah, Alive, who released "The Shootist" in Germany, is a completely legit company. I have "Death Wish 5", "Call Northside 777", "The Road to Wellville", and "The Left Hand of God" from them.

I’d really like to see Scream Factory get ahold of Prophecy and Fire in the Sky.

And a Criterion release of The Dead Zone.

At least the Spanish one is a boot (Resen).

I asked Eric Red on FB if Body Parts was ever coming to Blu-ray, and he said, "not if, when."

The German release was the one I had in mind as that's the one that gets cited frequently on the John Wayne and American Westerns threads.

Like the theatrical rerelease double bill in '76 or '77, with posters that advertised it as "Double Diana-Mite!" I'd go for that!

I would love to see Red Eye on Blu-ray. It’s an underrated thriller from Wes Craven. Very tense and suspenseful film, with excellent performances from Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy.

Also, Millenium Actress if they still have NA rights.

I keep reading of rumours that Criterion will release various Paramount titles, I hope they do, but let's see what happens.

That sure isn't going to hit much of my wish list. Maybe since they released "The Breakfast Club", they'd hit Paramount's Hughes films... but, I can't see "She's Having a Baby" getting the respect it's been due, but maybe.

I really need:
  • Summer School
  • She's Having a Baby
  • Some Kind of Wonderful
  • Gung Ho
  • Private Parts
  • Pretty in Pink
  • The Golden Child
  • Popeye
  • Eddie Murphy Raw
  • Boomerang
  • Elizabethtown

Not a good comparison. Spain is filled with bootlegs. No other country has that going down like they do.

Odd choice for a thread. Paramount doesn't like Blu-ray

Italy might be a close second. Of course, South Korea is in a league of its own. It gets complicated because not all countries recognize the same copyright agreements.

I try to avoid bootlegs, not purely for ethical reasons, but because I'd like to support legitimate rights-holders and encourage them to release more catalog titles on blu.

I can see Criterion doing Popeye. They are sorely deficient in the Robin Williams department.

Yeah, a Criterion deal with Paramount doesn’t get me that excited because most of the unavailable Paramount films I want aren’t films I could see Criterion getting. I’d be more excited by a Shout or Kino deal. At the very least, it’s cool that Paramount MIGHT be a bit more open to licensing.

I definitely can’t see that being a Criterion release. Maybe Shout or Kino if they could get their hands on it. It’s too bad that Disney only has overseas rights. This is a rare case where a film has a BETTER chance of seeing Blu under Disney because I could actually see Disney releasing it themselves (either traditionally or through their DMC program), or licensing it to Kino.

Wow!!!! Thanks so much for your signature line, or whatever it's called!!! I had no idea Frankenheimer's THE ICEMAN COMETH cometh, so to speak, to BD, haha. I collect Frankenheimer films, and somehow never caught this announcement. Much obliged!!!
