It happened to me while fighting the 3 soldiers in the end of chapter 3, so maybe it only happens in 'boss' fights

anyway, you can run away from battles, you don't have to fight. obviously I haven't reached the part you're on, so I don't know if that would work, but try to sneak past them and whenever a fight triggers run away and try again

Took a few tries but I got past this mission! . Starting chapter six and I'm at lvl 22. Won't be too long until I get my own skell now.

Played until 3am and finally got my skell! Which I promptly outfitted and headed out to battle. I unwisely tried to fight an enemy that was 15 levels higher than me and my skell was destroyed.

I don't want to boot it up right now, but you can at least press the Home button, so that the home menu shows up and that will definitely pause the game.

Although it would be nice to be able to view the map without worrying about being attacked. I guess you will only really be able to do that safely while in town.

What's not "proper" about the home menu?

I use it all the time for pausing games and I guess it's actually meant to do exactly that. It's also universal. It's only disabled for actual online games, because well you can't really pause such online games of course.

The actual question should probably be why don't they pause the game, when you go to the main menu. And I obviously don't know. I just booted it up, and it actually does pause the game as soon as you enter a separate screen like the save menu, the affinity chart and so on.

EDIT: weird, I'm not absolutely sure if going to a separate screen pauses, at least the time seems to continue anyway.

There's probably some reason why they chose to do that. Dark Souls does the same, even when being in off-line mode and for Dark Souls there is no home menu, so the only way to "pause" is to save and quit the game.

There are some games out without "Proper" pause screens. I just don't see why this game is so special in the fact the devs lost sight of what they were doing & didn't code a menu/pause which haults the game entirely. Then again, they probably did this on purpose.

It seems this is the case with most games out that "Can" connect to servers for what ever reason. This game ain't one of them but neither is Rock Band 4 or Bloodborne.

I remember one of the Resident Evil games had a No-Pause Pause putton.

I've logged about 35 hours now. I'm between chapters 6 and 7 and have just been doing affinity missions and exploring the huge map. I've not enjoyed a game this much for quite awhile. Fallout 4 couldn't hold my interest the way this game has.

Xenochronicles x has definitely held my interest more than fallout 4. Its a great JRPG heading to New 3DS

Have you tried Sword Art Online for PS4? I enjoyed the anime series and the game looks very good and has gotten positive reviews. I think I'll be getting it once I've finished Xenoblade.

Got that one as a b-day present on Saturday, although tomorrow is my actual b-day I'll try it out after Fallout 4 and X, but I think it's more likely that I'll commit to Disgaea 5 at that point.
