The French Blu (20+€, unconfirmed region coding) features Jennifer Kents short Monster(2005) which acted as the model for The Babadook.
Terrific, I thought.

IMO, The Babadook is DEFINITELY worth the $20+.

Day 1 buy for me.

However...I do agree that the artwork is a bit naff, but hopefully this will be one of those release with reversible artwork.

Very interested in this. Also hoping they have a reversible cover, because the new one is pretty lame.

I agree on what's been mentioned, a simple one would do fine IMO

Anyone can confirm if the French release is B-locked?
I found it pretty late in the database, it was listed under its French title "Mister Babadook" until 3 days ago.
And agreed, IMO this one is well worth the money. Gonna wait up which release to pick, though.

Also strange thing theres no German release in sight, thought it was the Blast on Fantasy Filmfest

The aussie is lacking in extras but I bought it for early review and the package.
Its only got the short, interviews and a short behind the scenes segment.

If the US has all UK extras plus more I will buy otherwise I will see which one has better. Wont be triple dipping on amrays!

Why not use the much better poster art instead of this obviously Photoshopped art? Anyway without a slipcover I'll just wait till I can get it for $10.

It might feature certain elements of Conjuring, and also "We need to talk about Kevin".

Doesn't actually add up, as The Babadook is by far not as cheap scare and in your face, IMO.
Also the initial short which TB was made of is from 2005. So maybe Wan ripped off a bit, if anything.

TB is subtle, smart and truly horrifying, on various levels IMO. Couldn't see that in Conjuring, neither in WNTTAK

Sry for bashing one of your favos
Maybe I had my hopes up to high on this one, but I thought the symbolisms were awfully overused, I ended up not liking nearly as much as I thought.

Still think its a better movie than Conjuring, liked Insidious pt1,
hated pt 2 and I dislike Wan's style overall by now.

Being a depressed woman flouncing around your house for a couple of days is more scary to you than a being a mother who suffers the utter misery of raising a psychopathic son for 16 years only to have him kill your husband and children and half the local school and then be blamed for it for the rest of your life?

Really?

It may on rare occasion go to $15, but more often it sits between $18-24 from what I've seen.

Yes, really. WNTTAK just didn't do it for me, for the mentioned reasons.
Its a gruesome story, though. It just wasn't "transported" in a way it could reach me, in fact I found it was a annoying watch at times.
Not the story. The way the movie performs to tell it.
Acting I thought was fine BTW, just the directing not so much.

I appreciate it worked for you and most viewers. What I found "too much" might be "quite right" for most, in this case.
So?

As for your own reflections on The Babadook, yeah so you couldnt enjoy it. But why you try to drag it through the mud that way?
Thats not getting personal for you, does it?
