And all HDTV broadcasts I've seen of "Return of Jafar" were cropped to 16:9 as well and only in artifact-ridden 720p.

I really hope there's something better planned for these titles.
But a majority of classic disney movies, if not all are released in 1.33:1 ratio. They just cover the sides with 'disney view' or just leaves it black. I don't think they would crop it to 16:9. This isn't DBZ

"THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER!"
"YOUR WISH COMES TRUE"

YOU JERKS! That implies that you withheld this movie from us on purpose!

They should at least make this the first 4K Blu-ray so we don't have to wait an eternity like we did for the blu-ray (ala "Pinocchio"). At least the 3D version.

Can't wait to finally own this movie, I never got around to getting the Platinum Edition and have been wanting to watch it again for some time now.

of course they did. Every movie released has been withheld each year to create a specifically tailored trickle of movies over the last 7 or 8 years.

As much as I would love to see Robin Hood and Emperor's New Groove in the line up. Realistically, the only movies to be included in the line up are Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, and Fantasia. The only reason why they aren't in there is because of technicality reasons, reasons that personally I think are superfluous.

The New renaissance Tangled, Wreck it Ralph, Frozen, and Big Hero 6. All have a good chance in the next line up
"Wait I thought Frozen was the only big success!"
The critical reaction wasn't any different than the other 3.

Putting in Frozen and excluding the rest is like putting in Lion King and excluding TLM, Aladdin, and B&tB. But most likely no, not NOW anyway.

Sorry....... but I doubt it.

Disney's attitudes on those movies are..........not that great.

The Hunchback is generally looked upon by the company as a commercial disappointment

and despite the fact that this generation of young adults sees Mulan as one of the great Disney classics the rest of the world certainly doesn't :P

To be fair Pinocchio, Bambi and Sleeping Beauty were considered disappointments in their day as well.

The true measure of what is considered a "classic" is time.

The sequels will be obviously paired on 1 Blu with 10% bonus (6 min behind the scenes, sing along), while Aladdin is filled 85%-90% on its bonuses

As for cover if Disney continues the oval shaped cover (like Jungle, Cinderella, 101) then we'll see Aladdin/Jasmine enjoyin a carpet fly in the oval while Genie, Abu are out of the oval and the back would be a desert/Cave Of Wonders landscape with Iago/Jafar and possibly Sultan

Again this is my guess

The line up is more about financial and critical success not so much what is seen as a classic.

Yes, a lot of Vault movies were initially disappointments, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Alice, SB, etc. But they're successful NOW. Now they are never ending money Geysers and critically acclaimed. That aspect in those movies is ancient history and no longer relevant to the Disney company

Hunchback of Notre damn, not so much........ It doesn't quite make the money on blu ray, the critical reaction is overall mixed and well..... no offense for those of you that like it. While I understand that a lot of people like that movie. It's pretty obvious there are a lot more people that don't. Maybe it will shake off that reputation some day but as of now it's not happening.

Man that'd suck if the diamond line was the final prestigious line, if they did go for a Shorts/Classic TV (DisneyLand, Wonderful World Of Color, Walt Disney Presents) line I'd use Walt Disney's Legacy as a title

Also found these 2 covers posted on dvdizzy's Aladdin thread, the member didn't confirm if these were fan made or not

Disney hasn't been adding the digital copy mark that is on the gold version shown. It normally just says Digital HD. And they surely wouldn't release an entirely separate release just for that. So i would say those are fan made. Nice art though.

Yea that's what I figured plus Aladdin/Jasmine and (maybe) Genie would be in the oval shape as well yet Sleepin Beauty had a full art

They're fan made

Honestly if anything it would probably look like the Cinderella DE cover
But instead of Cinderella it's Aladdin and instead of a slipper it's The Lamp

With the Genie and Jasmine on the side

Just talking out my rear here, but seems like the "original" Disney classics get the oval treatment while the newer - '90s and up, get the vertical logo like Little Mermaid did. Or they could do the same as they did with Sleeping Beauty and do both with one being an exclusive.
Actually, after thinking about it, Mermaid had both kinds of slips too, with the exception that both were regular retail versions. But that may have been because the other version was 3D.

Cover art won't affect my purpose (ever), but I hope they do something classy like The Little Mermaid 3D.
