Haven't bought this (I mean I don't want it that much to buy a mediocre release as I'd do with other films), but I'd buy a 4K restoration.

I was SO excited when this was announced. I've held off on this despite watching my DVD like 30 times every holiday, hoping for something better. The current blu out is not better to me than my DVD copy.

Maybe they've finally come to their senses and decided that they'd remaster and give it lossless sound, and then release it at another time.

Well, I guess it's not 4K otherwise they would say it.
So, I'm not expecting much.
Apart from the lossless audio, maybe they just tweaked a bit the colors/contrast and they called it newly remastered.

It may be, but Warner are not big about doing 4k masters, let alone shouting about them.

You're jumping to conclusions. There's no way of knowing if this is a 4K remaster until the press release arrive. Studios such as Warner and Fox are not big on mentioning 4k like Sony. Especially not on the back cover.

If this is indeed a new 4K master I will gladly double dip even if it doesn't have lossless audio.

well, it does say on the back cover that it has lossless audio!

Nice says it also has a DTS HD 2.0 track so that is cool. Should be close to the theatrical mix and better laserdisc audio hopefully.
