Thanks!

I sent an email to Prime Focus and got a response from Corey Turner, the main Stereographer at Paramount. I mentioned how much I and other 3D fans enjoyed the 3D in Teenage Mutant Turtles Out of the Shadows 3D, and he said he'd pass it on to the Prime Focus Teams, which was cool.

Transformers: The Last Knight (executive stereographer: paramount pictures) (filming)

2011 Arthur Christmas (stereographer)
2011 Transformers: Dark of the Moon (stereographer/3d supervisor)
2010/I Alice in Wonderland (stereographer: SPI)

He mentioned he designs and oversees all 3D productions for Paramount. He said Prime Focus worked with Stereo D on the first Turtles but Prime Focus handled all of the 3D this time on Turtles 2 3D. And that Transformers Last Knight, which Prime Focus is working on now, would be a mix of native 3D and conversion.

I wasn't expecting a response, so to get one from the Lead Stereographer at Paramount Pictures was really cool.
I can't repost the message as the bottom of it says confidential, but feel free to write to Prime Focus and tell them how much you appreciate the 3D conversions in your favorite 3D films on that list. http://www.primefocusworld.com/contact/

I should be getting my copy tomorrow hopefully. If it's like the first movie, then I'm expecting good things for the 3D as they did a great job before. From memory there were quite a few scenes in the movie which really stood out in 3D (the part where Raph takes out the motorbike guys was a great one). So yeah, had a lot of fun when I saw it in the cinema and really looking forward to watching it again in 3D at home this time.

With regards to a 3rd movie, I really hope they go ahead with it. It's a shame this film didn't do better in the cinema than it did because I genuinely felt this was a better movie than the 2014 original and I thought it deserved to make at least the same amount. Still, it didn't totally flop and I believe the home video (DVD + Bluray) sales for the 2014 film generated another 100 million dollars so I'm hoping at least this one brings in a similar amount as it will increase the chances of a third film in the future.

Thanks for the figures on the home sales Nightopian for the first one. Hopefully part 2 sells as well or better on home video and for 3D to inspire news of a 3rd Turtles in production.

Just finished watching TMNT2 and happy to report the 3D is awesome!

Just like it was when watching in the cinema this film has all 3D bases covered. I think a lot of it has to do with entire scenes being filmed in CG because it was during those scenes where the magic happened. Pretty much every time the Turtles were in the spotlight the 3D really popped. But it's not just that though, all those scenes are just shot perfectly for 3D with all the crazy stuff happening. There is great depth in a lot of scenes, a decent amount of pop out moments like the scene with the tank etc and a lot of blinking moments with projectiles flying right out the screen and some really great angular shots which give off a lot more immersion to the picture. Even the human actor scenes which usually don't pop as much looked surprisingly well. It's all great stuff and as I said, they covered all the bases I want covered in a 3D film. I could tell they put a fair amount of time in getting the most out of it.

After the flat pancake disaster that was Captain America CW, TMNT2 shows us how 3D is supposed to look when done right. Another great 3D title to show off to friends/family and an all round fun movie to watch. You'll enjoy this one fellow 3D fans.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the sound is awesome too. I have an Atmos setup and they made great use of the overhead sound as well as having a few moments where things flew around behind in a 360 type motion using the rear speakers giving you that head turning effect. Really great job!

Getting this in the mail from Target next week (for $22.24 after tax apparently). Total blind buy. Can't wait to enjoy the 3D and the movie itself! The first one was a lot of fun.

Those of you that haven't seen this yet are in for a real treat. Both TMNT movies got the 3D right. Can't wait to get this in and check it out again. Hopefully the franchise will continue because these movies are a lot of fun.

While I enjoyed the medium to strong 3D in Civil War, I do agree that TMNT 2's 3D is one of the best theatrical 3D films of 2016 with mostly strong 3D and 3D pop outs. The scene with the skydiving and the river, unbelievable. Can't wait to watch this again.

TMNT 2 3D is a top choice for 3D in 2016, with The Wild Life, Warcraft and Kung Fu Panda 3 as top contenders.

Pretty sure this is just an embossed slip cover and not lenticular. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why did the 2D look so bad was it just sourced from the left eye signal of the 3D version or something or was it just subpar cgi being used that made it look so off?

I'll have to watch the 2D version to see, but about to watch the 3D version again tonight.

That stinks. Not fun going out of your way to stop at a store on release day and finding out they don't have any in stock at all. That happens in my area too.

Best Buy was the only main retailer to get 3D. Best Buy AND Walmart had 4K too. I grabbed both.

These movies are dumb, but gosh are they fun!!

Best Buy seemed to be sold out if the 3D (the display shelf with the 3D tag was empty) and only a couple copies of the 4K when I went tonight. Will try another Best Buy in the next couple of days, but it may have been a very limited retail supply unfortunately (virtually never have a problem finding a new 3D release of a major title at BB).
