I love both series deeply but I would be happy if they never made another. I mean we've had plenty, how many more do we need?

For me personally, there can never be enough of either. Do we really need over 20 Bond films? No, but people enjoy them. Same with these 2 series. When people like something they want more.

I don't like james bond at all. We don't need any more of those or any more of those fart and the furious flicks either.

I think they should do a more supernatural take on Myers. That aspect of the character was always there in the original films. But Rob Zombie wiped it away and humanized Myers, in two films that divided audiences. I think a new take on it needs to go in the opposite direction.

Agreed. We've had enough subpar, stupid Halloween sequels. They should take the time they need to do it right.

I don't get this sentiment at all. We don't NEED any movie, but it's entertainment and people WANT to see more Halloween, so what's the problem? If you aren't interested don't watch.

Carpenter also exec. produced a couple of other reboots/remakes/sequels and they were total shit. Like The Fog and Vampires Los Muertos for example. I like Carpenter as a director and composer, but he usually isn't too invested when he gives his okay to something based on his work.

I'd like to see a proper Halloween and Friday the 13th movie set in modern times. The Paranormal activity and some of the other franchises that had spin offs such as Annabelle are crap.

We need to see the real icons return to the big screen and done properly for an all new generation. It's been 40 years since the originals came out and the "modern" versions are correct me if I'm wrong, 10+ years ago almost. (Friday the 13th was 2009)

It most certainly can be. It could even be worse than Resurrection.

For all their faults and rough edges I like the visceral qualities of the Zombie Halloween entries. There's nothing like a horror film made by a filmmaker who loves the genre, as opposed to those just looking for a commercial product to advance their careers.

Very curious to see what Green and McBride bring to the franchise, will it possibly be as subversive as Halloween 3? For a long time Green tried to get a Suspiria remake off the ground; is he looking at this as a consolation prize?

I'm certainly curious about the creative team behind this now, and Carpenter seems excited...So I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic for this, as well as the new Friday the 13th, when it lands at New Line next year.

Yep. They can make them forever. If people don't want to watch them they don't have to.

I'm not super impressed by this new news of who is making it. I feel like this is a weird fit for a Halloween film. At least it's not Rob Zombie. But I really wanted someone like David Robert Mitchell or Adam Wingard. Seems like a missed opportunity not to have one of them. Hopefully it's great.

I actually really like Rob Zombie's Halloween II. An extremely underrated, misunderstood little film that I saw twice in theaters.

That said, this new film could be really good...or another generic Blumhouse piece of dung. Hoping for the former.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this movie. Big Halloween fan and with its original creator attached, of course that's got me excited. But really anything can happen with this between now and release. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

I'm down, so long as they ease off the origin story. We get it, he killed his sister an rotted in an asylum for ~10 years. I wanna see The Shape stalking teenagers and stabbing them, with the occasional prank kill for his own amusement.
