Only their hairdresser knows for sure.
I like real-looking colors so I think I use fair judgement. With Pacific Rim and Agent Carter Season 1 Wide didnt look too distracting and actually brought about more details in the texture of clothing and the floors.
But then I used it on other movies and it made skin tones look awfully sunburned and clothes look fluorescent!
When should we use Wide color properly?

The OLEDs have ~P3 primaries. Furthermore, when you choose standard gamut it seems they convert (remap) 709 into P3 color space. (And if you chose Wide, it sends the UHD 2020 RGBs straight into the TV primaries, so you get 2020 displayed as P3)

The filters are supposed to block the opposite colors. So if you adjusted a pure color bar (unmanipulated) with the filters, you'd be adjusting the controls to make the RGB colors fall on the sets primaries which as I said is only accurate when the signal and primaries match.

Since the Rec. 709 signal from the BD is supposedly being remapped within the P3 primaries you'd be adjusting the remapped signal to display as P3.

Probably slightly over saturated plus any additional hue shift from the difference in primaries + the color bars being mapped 709->P3 already

Likewise with an UHD's 2020 color bars (on Wide) (if there were any), since they're being displayed at P3, with the color filter you'd just be making sure the 2020 colors are displaying as perfect P3, not 2020 (probably undersaturated, and for example with reds, oranges and yellows slightly shifted towards yellow/green)
There was a FW upgrade a few weeks back. These displays are now accurately tracking Rec. 2020. Early July LG and Samsung whose displays were doing the same thing both came out with FW upgrades to fix this issue. It has been confirmed on numerous review sites.

How many of you have tested the new HDR (user) mode? You can apply it to non-HDR content and I'm definetely diggin' it!

Pass. It is like turning on the 3D mode for non 3D content, pretty flawed. ISF 1 or 2 calibrated for all HD Rec. 709 content.

^Seems like all it does is over saturate the colors.

Yes, richer colors and makes things like sunlight and other light reflections on things and people more real. Look at the sun reflecting on his hair...less dull and more true to real sunlight reflection

That is awesome then

(Still, the caveat of using the blue filter would stand as you'd need a "P3" color bar (embeded in 2020) for the filter to work as it should.)

I am currently looking into get the LG 65ef9500 (2015 model) flat screen. I'm on the brink but any comments pro or cons. Would be greatly helpful. This will be the most I have ever paid on a tv. 3k+ so I want all info I can get especially from people who have experienced Oled. Even if you say to go with a top of the line led instead. I just want to be as informed as I can again 3k+ to me is insanity to pay for a tv but finally built up the courage to do so.
Thank you.

Well I took the plung. I applied for Best Buy card got a good amount with 24 month interest free so eased the concerns of my wife of going big or going home. So I ended up with the OLED65E6P and the Sammy player. I have yet to calibrate it but I love it so far. Been set up since maybe 9:30-10pm Chicago time. Any pic setting suggestion would be helpful. Doing all that tomorrow.
Thank you.

I just had a 55" E6 shipped to me from Value Electronics. Haven't had much time to fully explore the settings yet, but it is beautiful. I'm now considering wall mounting it.

Does anyone that has an E6 in here ever use the TV speakers? If so, have you experimented with the different sound modes (standard, sports, etc) of turning 3D sound on?

I'm still experimenting with my new E6 and have not tried any HDR10 or Dolby Vision content yet. Where do I find this content? Also, when watching this content, what picture mode does the TV play these in? I currently use the ISF modes for everything.

Marco Polo on Netflix is in Dolby Vision.
For HDR10 you have to use 4K discs.
The TV will detect either DV or HDR and automatically switch to either pre-setted picture mode...Similar to what the TV does when it detects 3D content

Playing with my new E6 every night! I cannot leave the settings alone! I still amazes me when the screen goes black, even in a lit room.

Lately I've been flirting with the soundbar options for when I do not have my AVR on. The Smart Sound option is interesting, but it seems to just make everything louder. I'm trying to get a bit more low end/bass out of it and it seems like switching from Standard to Music might accomplish that (leaving all other setting off like Smart Sound and 3D Surround Sound off).

Also, I have noticed a lot of noise in the background when watching HD signals from my Directv DVR (not from BD's). Anyone else notice this? If so, has anyone experimented with the noise settings? I know that it is always best to leave these off, but just curious.

crap in/crap out...Because your Oled is so accurate when the source is good (bluray, 4K) it will look outstanding, but when the source is crap (tv/cable, streaming programs) all the issues with compression and posterization will also be more noticeable. It's not your TV, it is your souce which now reveals all its flaws because of the TV you are using. Nothing you can do, and noise reduction won't help but make things even worse

I haven't used HRD as I am using ISF bright and dark only. I think HDR on mine defaults to Normal, but I would've thought it would default to Wide.

It does default to normal when playing content in HDR...
Many wonder why it does not default to Wide gamut...If you try to manually change gamut to wide all it does is make color look like you have it on maximum...It looks really bad and certainly not the way Wide gamut on HDR is meant to work
