Wish TOEI would remaster Dr. Slump and Arale-chan on Blu-ray.
There is a French release though far as I'm aware it's an upscale. And incomplete. ![]() Nice packaging at the very least. |

Not sure where else to put this, but it seems that Funimation may have decided to let the Tenchi Muyo license expire.
All of the DVD/Blu-Ray for Tenchi on Funimation are getting low on stock, and the 3rd party sellers prices are rising quickly. |

The original OVA collection went out of stock for good at RightStuf in the summer IIRC, so you're probably right.

I'd love to see a re-release of Full Moon Wo Sagashite upscaled on bluray-not that sd on bd shit.

Despite the fact that an SD-BD will probably look better due to lacking the atrocious filtering most upscales have and is more likely from a financial perspective? Okay then.

I'm fine with either SDBD or a Blu-ray upscale for SD digipaint shows, just as long as they don't look like crap. Thankfully Discotek knows what they're doing with those.

Well, note all the times they've sent cel-animated shows to Q-TEC to turn them into oil paintings. Also, Japan often has lost the film elements. Project A-Ko anyone? Only now is that finally going to look good.
What's weirder is when you do SD Blu-rays for HD content, like what happened with Strike the Blood. ![]() |

If a show was shot on 35mm film, fine upscale or use as is. If it was shot on 16mm stock there's only so much that can be done to make it look good, one of the best I've ever seen are the bluray sets of Ranma 1/2 that Viz released. As I'm sure you know 16mm film stock has a lot of grain at 1080P-4K-forget it. Of course it also depends on the speed of the film-I used to do a lot of photography years ago.

The TC Entertainment "Omoide no Anime Library" series sometimes use HD, but they're still compressed to shit with 12 episodes on a BD-25, like their Devilman Lady release, which also had shit audio from optical masters (anyone checked out the Discotek release yet? I assume it's better but haven't seen any details yet)
