Gosh I never knew it. I checked some Dynit titles I bought days ago on Amazon.es, they are all much cheaper than I had on Amazon.it. Feeling bad

I believe Manga Ent released Macross II and Macross Plus in North America at a time Harmony Gold wasn't as aggressive with defending their Macross trademarks and since they came out without contest Manga Ent could just keep rereleasing them as long as they had the license.

I believe Naiera bought one a while ago. It should be a good release. mp3dom worked on the authoring and encoding.

I've held off on buying the Dynit release many times. Call me superstitious, but I'm afraid that by the time I've bought it, Bandai Visual would suddenly announce an English subtitled re-release.

I did buy one. Since mp3dom made it, it's probably slightly better looking than the Japanese release, which doesn't have subtitles on the OVA version anyway, making the Dynit release both better and exponentially cheaper. I think I've all but perfected my subs, and I'd share them with anyone, of course.

The one they received at the hands of Hasbro a few years back was pretty sweet.

Yes, even by HG standards that one was ridiculous.

Hopefully, a similar outcome this time around

For years I was figuring they would eventually go after Jetfire. Their audacity in the lawsuit actually surprised me. Hasbro has MUCH deeper pockets and probably would have ended up owning HG if they hadnt backed off. Harmony Gold sure nipped at the dragon there.

En gros, BW n'aurait pas dû faire une demande de dépôt tout en s'opposant à celle d'HG. Les avocats d'HG se sont basés sur ces faits simultanés pour faire lever l'opposition, et ça a marché, malheureusement.

#BigWest case vs #HarmonyGold. As I feared, the precedence of the #Macross trademark registration by HG in some European countries seems to prevail. #BW's request is not definitively rejected, but their opposition is suspended, so I do not have much hope 😢

Basically, BW should not have made a filing request while opposing that of HG. HG's lawyers relied on these simultaneous facts to raise the opposition, and it worked, unfortunately.

Is there an English friendly Blu anywhere in the world? I bought the Japanese one even though I knew it had no subtitles.

Nope. I’m gonna have to add subs myself.

Also, to anyone who owns it- which version is the uncensored version? I think it’s the cheaper re-release, but I might be wrong.

It's the more recent re-release (the one that didn't come with the PS3 game, which is why they had to censor it, under Japanese content-laws).

I don't understand how HG can keep this stranglehold on Macross. The first series, I can kind of see this BS happening to, since they edited it into Robotech, but I don't understand how that extends to ALL things Macross-related. Why do they care this much about blocking Macross? That's what I don't understand about this whole situation. They're not making money off it and they don't seem all that interested in actually doing something with it, so why hang onto it like this? And, aren't they a real estate company at this point? I mean, WTF? This whole thing makes no sense.
