With "I Monster", doesn't the 'pulfrich effect' mean that it's a 2d movie with a 3d effect, and the effect only works occasionally, when the camera is moving the right way ?
To get back to 'Outlaw Territory': The thing that made it feel like a 'B' movie for me, was that there was only one song, and just a little other music. The story however, was entertaining. The picture is soft, and sometimes seems a bit 'overexposed' and sometimes washed out. This is the best the film will look until it is properly restored. Some good 3D extras are included. Phil. |

Would be nice to see an attempt to make a real 3D disc of this title. It's of course based on a public-domain work -- Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde -- but the question is whether the movie is PD. This from a DVD Talk review of the DVD from Retromedia, which worked with PD titles: I, Monster may have fallen (or perceived to have fallen) into public domain. There's no notice on the disc indicating the original copyright (by Amicus Productions in 1971, according to the film), and for the onscreen title card Retromedia has video-supered a copyright notice of their own. |

I got the blu ray and bought some of those glasses . The effect does work in certain scenes . The producer wanted the whole film filmed that way but the director just didnt get it . so only some scenes you can see in 3d . would be great if someone could do the whole film in tru 3d

I think that a lawsuit would have legs to walk if the rights owner was interested in release the movie in 3D. If not then he/she/it has no way to complain about other people to resell. For that the rights owner had to prove that he/she/it was taking steps for that release or was about to release it. Even though if a genuine product were released this edition would only prejudice Variety Films due to not expecting the original to be released and the investement already put in this project. Variety Films would have been only promoting a movie that no longer can sell and the rights owner would have profits without effort on promoting it.
I understand people fighting for rights they own, what I don't understand is greed over culture that is put to a corner getting dust. Just my 2 cents on this subject. ![]() |

Hannah Lee was a lot easier on the eyes than Cat Women on the Moon. This is not to say that Hanna Lee didn't suffer from a poor image but I did manage to view the complete movie. Yes, there is a lot of ghosting, artifacts, scratches and colour fades blemishing the screen but you quickly get absorbed in the plot of the movie. With Cat Women, on the other hand, I had to switch to the 2d version mid-way as I had too much eyestrain. CWOTM wins my top award for worst 3D showing ever,..and there is a certain charm to that! It will be my go-to joke 3d disc to have a good laugh with friends and family...and maybe to satisfy my inner masochist.

No, Wade’s ownership of this copyrighted film was surprisingly clear and concrete. Believe me, we checked, especially since we already hold near pristine left right 35mm materials on most of the movie.
The estate is still focusing on his real estate holdings and once that is cleared, the film library will get some desperately needed attention. Don’t give up! |

I’ll add that the necessary parties are very aware of our interest in preserving and restoring HANNAH LEE and CAT-WOMEN OF THE MOON…
