That is pretty fascinating. I wonder which school has had the most starting QBs in the NFL. Michigan? Notre Dame? |

It talks about which schools have had the most starters lower down on the page. USC has had the most with 15 (16 if you count Mark Sanchez), followed by Notre Dame with 13 and Washington with 12. Purdue has actually had the most games started, with 704, as they have had 4 quarterbacks with over 100 starts. It's funny that Texas A&M Commerce has had more starting quarterbacks (3) than Texas, Texas Tech, or TCU.

When did you go to UGA? I was there from 80-84. The Herschel Walker era. Damn the Dawgs were good back then! In 1980 the campers could still park at Stegeman Hall. |

Still, we had some amazing and games talent to watch: Champ Bailey, etc. As soon as I graduated, Richt came, and it's been fun ever since. |

That is pretty desperate. I went to grad school at a Div 2 school and went to about 5 or 6 home games during my two years there. It's just hard to watch after you get used to SEC games in larger stadiums. Going from watching Div 1 to Div 2 is almost like going from college games to high school (strictly IMO).

Ought to make their second game against Ohio State (in the Horseshoe!) a little more interesting. He's supposed to be unbelievable, but he threw 18 picks in his HS senior year, and he's never taken a snap in a college game. I just don't know..... Colin Cowherd (ESPN Radio) commented that Pete Carroll has never benched a QB during his USC career. Could we possibly see the first? Or will Corp's cracked fibula leave them little choice but keep Barkley in even if it gets rocky?

If anyone question division 2 being a bit below division 1, here's a story about a division 2 team that canceled their first game because they ordered new helmets and pads but they haven't arrived yet. I'm curious why they can't wear what they've been practicing in or borrow some pads from a local high school.

I have heard, however, that there are several bowl affiliations that may be changed this year or next. One will be a new SEC-Pac 10 matchup. Despite my feelings about the rampant inadequacies of the Pac 10 as a conference, I am intrigued by that possibility. |

Many of the bowls are changing their alliances after this season's games. The Alamo Bowl is losing the Big 10 for the 2nd Pac 10 team and will be played January 2nd. The Big 10 might go to the Gator Bowl and the Holiday Bowl. The Gator Bowl is also looking into adding the SEC.
On a side note, I hate how 2nd tier bowl games are being played after January 1. It used to mean something to play in a January bowl, and next year the Cotton Bowl, Alamo Bowl, International Bowl, Liberty Bowl, and Papajohns.com Bowl will all be played January 2nd. |

I completely agree. I've been to the Liberty Bowl more than once (hosted in Memphis, not far from my location) and it's an absolute joke. The stadium is terrible and it's in a dangerous area of Memphis. It's simply about giving a bowl to any city and corporate sponsor who can offer up the money (hence the papajohns.com bowl) and putting it on any date available as long as it isn't the week of the national championship.

From the inception of the BCS the New Years slots and the stature of playing in January has been trumped by the new years week and beyond. There is no reason to play a regular season game in December and Labor Day Weekend, have the "championship game" on the damn 7th or 8th and then pretend the week after December 31 should just be for the big games. The mystique was that on your federal holiday of NYD, ratings would be enormous because everyone would sit around and watch the massive bowl matchups featuring the champions from conferences with ridiculously historical tie ins. Now it is a joke, with a freaking Thursday night game as the "biggest" of the season at 5PM PST, and ending at midnight in the east. And then going to work the next day. Awesome. ![]() |
