Here we go yet again. I'm through with getting excited over a Scream/Shout Factory release until I actually see it. The Tales from the Hood blu ray is great for the most part but during the documentary around the 42 minute mark the screen goes black for about a half a second. Very minor but still a damn issue. Please let Trespass be defect free! Please Shout Factory!

Well I just went ahead and bought the region free UK edition instead. Looks like you lost out on my money Scream Factory.

Can anyone confirm this on their disc and/or the international Blu-ray?

I don't wanna poop on Scream Factory if this is an issue with the master. I haven't seen this film in such a long time (and even then on a VHS back in the USA Network days, yikes!), so I can't say for sure if this has always been the case.

I can also confirm that this is the case. Not to excuse the release having this issue or anything, but it took me quite awhile to even find what you were talking about. The offending moment is the cutaway to the very front of the car in the split second BEFORE it hits the guy. It occurs at the 15:16 mark for me. The cutaway lasts about 1/3 of a second, and the error basically looks as though the right side was cropped in. I've included a screengrab below. Again, this is not to excuse the error or anything, but I don't think I would have noticed this in motion if it hadn't been pointed out due to how incredibly brief this cut scene is, and I think anyone who chooses to skip this release based on this split second error is doing himself a disservice. Just my opinion, obviously.

Nice job with the cap, dude! Don't have the technology for that, and much rather prefer these screencaps than cell phone pics.

I def only brought it up so people are aware, but as with all of Scream's errors, only the ones that adversely affect my enjoyment of the movie are the ones I seek replacements for. I just don't get too worked up about most of them, since I usually have an extra copy of the movie on hand w/o that particular anomaly or error (only collecting, for the most part, previously owned movies).

And yeah, as I mentioned, split second shot, but unlike you, I immediately noticed it, but then again, I've got a hawk's vision for that type of nonsense, much to the detriment of my viewing experience sometimes. lol

Thanks again for the detailed info and cap, man. And yes, my explanation was horrid, so thanks for clarifying where exactly one can find this error.

Rock on!

No, I'm glad you pointed it out. I mean it's definitely there, and it's definitely quite a large mistake. If it was on the screen any real length of time, it would obviously be an ENORMOUS issue. I was just trying to make sure people knew how incredibly brief the moment that it appears onscreen is (11 frames). I've included a link below to a gif of the moment so each person can determine how much the error is or isn't going to hamper their enjoyment of the film.

Thanks for the gif. It's such a quickly cut moment I don't really pick it up. Plus the shot following it has dark piping along the same side of the frame so it all blends for me. Not going to affect me getting this release sometime

Thanks for the gif inclusion. It solidified my decision to stick with the UK release unfortunately.

Don't know, you'd have to inquire on their Facebook page.

Its been confirmed by another member on the previous page that the glitch is not on the UK release. Not sure if that's the one you were asking about.

I watched this disc a couple of nights ago and didn't notice this error. After reading through this thread I got the disc back out and checked it. And yes at the 15:16 mark it is there. It happens so fast though it is barely noticeable in motion. I don't know if I would have ever noticed it if it hadn't been pointed out. I fully agree that anyone who passes on this release because of this tiniest of errors is doing themselves a great disservice. If Scream fixed the error and sent out replacement discs I wouldn't even bother with the trouble of paying the shipping to send this disc in. Get it.

This was the first time I watched this movie in like 20 years. Funny as hell. I do recommend a blind buy.

11 frames! Jeez, I notice stuff down to 1 frame enough to pause, rewind and see wtf it was. With 11 frames you'd have to be Stevie friggin' Wonder not to notice! This is an automatic pass for me unless a replacement is announced.

Never would've noticed this had it not been pointed out. Of course I'm not scanning films for fault either.
For me, the pro's far outweigh the con with this release. With that in mind I've concluded I won't be losing any sleep over this fraction of a second blip.

I don't think it's necessarily that those who do notice it are Film Terminators, scanning each one they watch for errors/mistakes and then submitting said flubs to the masses for further criticism or inquiries.

Some of us just have a keener eye for this sort of thing. Akin to how some people can spot continuity errors without really trying.

Again, I only mentioned it so people were made aware, and to see if it was a worldwide error with the original master and not just Scream Factory's unfortunate misstep.

It's not about not buying or buying the darn movie (which is fantastic), just for the information of the public.

Don't feel bad about exposing the flaw. Some people already have a dvd copy of the film that has most of the extras and if they were looking to upgrade it's best they know to go ahead and get the UK region free version since it doesn't have the mistake and it's the same transfer. For anyone who doesn't own it they should go with this one though.
