Finally got to watch this last night. The transfer was so so, but I thought it was a really fun movie. (As far as the PQ goes, I'll admit, I actually don't hate to see the reel change spots in home video copies, particularly when it's not a movie that I feel needs top notch restoration. It reminds me of being in a theater before digital projection.) The New Angeles idea was fun, creatively-designed, and deeply 90s. Some of the effects and matte paintings were pretty sweet too. I also liked the goofy tone of it all. And Kristina Wagner was lookin' pretty fine. Very good way to kill a Friday night.

I do think there is a certain charm to seeing a transfer like this that resembles a commercial film print, even if it's softer and not as clean and detailed as a 4K remaster from the negatives or whatever. See also the Project 4K scans of the classic Star Wars films. It especially works well if you rock a projector setup.

I got tickets for How Did This Made Live in Philly for later this month and they've finally revealed the film they will talk about. It's none other than Double Dragon.

I was already excited to go but now I'm even more excited.

Won this bluray and finally watched it without knowing anything about it. I LOVED it lol I had a blast. Good cheesy, nonstop action 90s fun! I personally loved that the bluray looks like a 35mm print with specs and hot contrast.

In case anybody missed it, Discotek is putting out the cartoon on blu-ray in April. The episodes will be in SD out of necessity, but still pretty cool!

Are SD-BDs better than DVD? What's the point of these?

Less compression, less number of discs needed 🤔

plus blu-ray is a far, far better disc format than DVD from a design/programming standpoint

On the SD-BD I’ll also note subtitles are a significant upgrade over their blockier look on DVD.

Anyway, anyone think this could get a 4K edition sometime soon?
