Never. Those are the only Star Wars that should, will and do exist!

Default Denis Villeneuve Is Ready To Make Dune Messiah After Dune Part Two Read More: https:

The first book sequel is "Dune Messiah," and that's the movie that Villeneuve would like to make after "Dune Part Two." Speaking with*Entertainment Weekly, he said:*

"I always envisioned three movies. It's not that I want to do a franchise, but this is Dune, and Dune is a huge story. In order to honor it, I think you would need at least three movies. That would be the dream. To follow Paul Atreides and his full arc would be nice."

I imagine if Dune 2 hits certain box office measures Dune Messiah would follow. After that, if Messiah is also a hit Legendary/WB will certainly want to continue with Children of Dune and the other stories in the series, though they'd be doing so without Villaneuve.

Delving into the superb 'Paul Of Dune' which narratively takes place between Dune and Messiah could be a real solid idea, as half of the action takes place in flashback to Paul's childhood when he was about 12. Perfect for a HBO Special.

DV just as much as confirmed the possibility of a third movie:

Denis Villeneuve on ‘Dune’ Success and the Road to ‘Part Two’

Quote:
The filmmaker reflects back on his journey and looks ahead to his future, which may even include a third installment set in Frank Herbert's world.

I totally believe we are getting a third film, but this is the start of a new franchise, and unlike another space-based classic franchise this one has it's past and future fully mapped out by the original author extensively!

Denis will complete his trilogy with Messiah. Who will come on board to adapt God Emperor is doubtful as it's so damn bizarre, but the 'Legends' series commencing with 'The Butlerian Jihad' and the direct prequel trilogy of 'House Atreides/Harkonnen/Corrino' (set 35 years before the first book) are ripe for picking for film or television.

I know we’re just joking but obviously this would be Rabban talking to The Baron.

“Somehow… Paul Atreides has returned.”

No thanks. I'd rather not want any of the Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson spin-offs to be adapted to live-action. Animation would be more deserving of their filler. The six Frank Herbert DUNE novels are more than worthy of being live-action. Even God Emperor of DUNE.

No idea if I ought to spoiler this since it's book related but going to anyway. For DUNE: Part Two, I do
[Show spoiler]wonder if Denis will feature the war taking two years between Atreides/Fremen/Allies versus Harkonnen/Corrino/Enemies on Arrakis and the sheer scale of it.
The 1984 adaptation obviously glossed over the
[Show spoiler]length of time regarding the war
both Theatrical and Extended. I'd need to rewatch the longer version of the 2000 adaptation if it covered it or not, even though the budget was mediocre.
Another spoiler,
[Show spoiler]I've forgotten when Ghola's appear, especially the one regarding Duncan Idaho. Maybe DUNE Messiah?
I'd need to recheck because the PC games and Children of DUNE mini-series might've covered that.

Is there a reason Dune Messiah would be done with one movie and not two?

It's shorter than Dune, by at least half.

The answer to your third spoiler question is yes. He appears in Dune Messiah.

I went in having never read anything about Dune and picked up the book a few weeks ago - made it to around page 240 or so before going to Laser IMAX (1.43:1) on Monday. I was just finishing the dinner where they learn they found the carryall. So shortly thereafter in the movie I was blown away as it turned up to 11.

Wow. So good. Read 100 pages yesterday in the ER waiting for x-rays and arm casting. lol

Fwiw the film covers the first 500 pages of the book.

Got to disagree; i wouldn't envision the House' trilogy as a cinematic outing, but a prime slice of drama perfect for the likes of HBOmax. Initially set 35 years before the events of Herberts first book, it's a superb chronicle of backstories and events previously created by Frank and fleshed out by Brian and Kevin.

As for God Emperor, that's where the saga goes off the deep end...

The franchise also has the 'Butlerian Jihad' trilogy which sets up the entire Dune mythology as we know it. Epic stuff ripe for adaptation.

I am interested in this as a prequel to why there is a world without AI which has a huge role in todays society and could pick up on a lot of points like those brought up in blade runner.

one thing i did not quite understand about Dune was how it was supposed to be grown up version of star wars. Kylo Ren killed his dad in episode 7 and tried to kill his mother in ep 8. that is pretty sick and 'grown up'/dark. yet so many focus on disney/toys/id politics rather than story of a guy and girl getting together, which is basically plot of Dune 1 if you ignore all other stuff too.
