I'm not counting on it. Considering if Amazon cancels/removes the listing, and not the Blu-ray one, is because Universal told them so..

It's only sad because it's native 4K so it should look good..

Not seen the movie, but would not be too surprised if it became a success on video/streaming.

Wouldn't be the first time and I think this movie will build better overtime away from crtiyucs. but I don't think Universal is gonna be willing to do 4K for a massive bomb, unless they feel obligated or compromised because they had to spend more money to shoot it in native 4K.

My daughter works at an Emagine theater. They have had more walkouts and people asking for their money back than any other movie in the ten years she's worked there. It not just the critics who hate this film. Personally I dislike anything involving Andrew Lloyd Webber so I won't be seeing this.

apparently Millennials (and members of the Facebook group: "All Things Broadway") hate 'Cats' with avengence - one meer word or peep, and the claws come out.

Can't understand why. But again, Cats has always been this thing, very succesful, though also hated in the mainstream.

I legit think and will always think this movie has been unfairly treated and misunderstood.

Heading for a $100 million loss at the box office according to Variety. How Universal must yearn for the glory days of Jurassic World and F&F 7.

Don't buy this. People said this about low budget special effects, but rarely does anyone prefer a DVD of a z-grade movie over an HD release.

Part of me thinks Universal is not worried. You know, studios have studiest and tests for every movie. They knew what was coming. I'm sure they had seen the social media reaction and also the reaction of tests screenings. They just simply powered through it. I believe they're not that worried.. All they have to do is get another Fast and Furious or Jurassic World out and they'll be fine. Or any sequel or remake, really.

The special effects excuse is dumb, not because Cats have bad special effects (it really doesn't, it's more average but in 2019 it's not a bad thing).. I think it'd benefit more from a 4K release because it was shot in 4K, period. There's no need to say it's because of the VFX.

It's motion capture, not live action...
it was all animated via a computer after the actors did their parts with the motion capture...

That's not nice. Respect those who liked this movie, like me. People can be allowed to like what you deem garbage.

No, that's false. If it had been entirely mocapped and animated, it'd have looked much worse.

They did real sets, and there were real people; they had some sort of suits, but it wasn't the typical mo-cap with dots only, etc. The only digital enhancement made was the fur, tail and ears.

You're mistaking this with The Lion King-Jungle Book type of movie and this wasn't the case. It was live action. All they digitally added was background effects/details, and fur, tail and ears.. but the bodies and their movements, and their faces where the ones filmed as is.

I don’t like this movie in spite of its flaws, I like it because of its flaws.

Anybody who enjoyed the stage show or the 1998 PBS version will likely love this one. It has a lot of added scenes and some re-interpretations. I really enjoyed it. Those going in blindly with no appreciation of showtunes might be quite disappointed. I love a lot of movies which reviewers hated.

personally, I'd hope Universal does what Disney does (in terms of their 3D titles) and releases the UHD in the UK market for parallel importing.

Meh. Hobbs and Shaw still grossed three quarters of a billion, HTTYD3 half a billion, secret life of pets 2 $400M, Glass took $240M+ worldwide on a $20M budget and Us did pretty much the same. Universal haven't had a stellar 2019 but they've still taken two billion in global grosses which is more than what Fox and Paramount could manage combined. Cats bombing will put a big hole in their ledger for sure but even when Uni don't have any $1Bn bankers they're still putting out movies that are money making machines, those horror cheapies especially.

But why you want to make bad movie to begin with? Does that even make sense?
