Am I the only one who likes the look of this boxset? I especially like the Ralph McQuarrie are in the book, so I would like to art for the rest of the movies in this style. (Also I don't mind cardboard sleeves holding the disks)

Individuals or at least Trilogy Sets would work best. I have no place for that thing let alone can stand the Booklet garbage. As good at it may look.

I'll wait for individual releases. Just not a fan of box sets at this point and I already have 7 and 8 on 4K.

I don't guess this doesn't bode well for having the theatrical cuts for the original trilogy...

So if I'm right, it should have

-9 films on 4K and Blu-ray
-2011 Saga Bonus discs
-Sequel Trilogy Bonus Discs

So far, that's 24 discs. Meaning we should also be getting 3 additional bonus discs if the count is 27. Whether that's the OOT or extras related to the Skywalker Saga in general is still unknown, but to me, that would be worth the purchase.

I may need to consider this as time goes on.

And yes, I do LOVE the layout of this set (especially the use of the Ralph McQuarrie artwork!).

Probably never happening I concede now. More chance of Disney releasing the uncut version of The Muppets Christmas Carol.

I like it a lot too. I’m a huge steelbook fan but the set does look impressive.

I love the look of it. I'm a sucker for anything that incorporates McQuarrie's art... and I love the minimalistic look of the Death-Star-against-black box. I hate it when disc art gets too photo-shoppy and too busy. So I'm lovin' it as a display piece; I'm just absolutely NOT going to store my discs in it, lol

I do at least like the way it brings to (my) mind the look of the Trilogy LD box. And what's a Star Wars boxset for in 2020, if not warm fuzzies?

Heh, yeah, I kind of had the same thought. It looks cool, which is of course the idea behind it, but when I think of the "Skywalker saga" then it's ultimately about optimism and hope prevailing. The ultimate weapon of terror and mass destruction commissioned by the franchise's Space Dictator Satan doesn't reflect that too well.

But then again, said Space Dictator Satan is returning for the final installment, and the Death Star itself - or variations of it such as new and improved versions, weapons described as "miniaturized Death Star tech", etc. - appears in more movies than not, so why not?

Hmm, I am conflicted. On one hand, I like the set, will need to rearrange the movie book case to fit this in though.

On the other hand, I was hoping for 4K Steelbooks for the OT to match the new trilogy steels.

I am definitely picking up the Rise of SW Steelbook to finish those steels.

Also, not liking the fact its missing Rogue One and Solo. Ys, Solo is not part of the Skywalker saga, and Rogue One is ancillary at best, but I'd still like to see them included.

Decisions, decisions.

I love the concept art pages and I like the overall aesthetic of the set as well. I'm not thrilled with the fact that it seems so oversized and would have preferred something closer to the 2011 BD digibook. That said, I think it will still fit just fine as the first item on my entertainment center shelf and overall it'll save space over buying individual releases so unless the steelbook artwork is super compelling, I'll be going with this for sure.

I imagine this and IX will probably open up for preorders tomorrow evening...

Don't worry. I'm sure they will do steelbooks as well.....and Target Digibooks....and... Well you get the idea. This is probably the last outing of these movies so you can be sure Disney will milk it in every possible way imaginable.

Why? I don't see anything particularly wrong with it. I've seen and owned several pacakaes that were very odd choices, but were fine on the discs. It's not the big deal everyone is making it out to be. I think I had a package similar to that for CDs. It was totally fine. And you know how temperamental CDs can be.

Sure, there will be a slight upgrade on the disc, but I'd expect the same mild use of HDR the streaming version has
I think it's going to be more than a slight upgrade. The discs should be much, much better. And the HDR should not be mild. Of course, it's going to be one of the most hated releases. Can't please a lot of people around here.

Shocked? How you can be shocked? It's Star Wars. Of course, it was coming out on 4K UHD. That's like going to the bathroom and being shocked when urine comes out when you pee.

I'm in the same boat as you and in fact, maybe in a worse position as I have even less shelf space (two shelf spaces in fact). However, that is not stopping me from getting this. There is only one choice in the matter. Don't care about no special edition/not the originals crap. This is a have to have, must buy release above all else. Even if I have to sell bodily fluids to do so.

I'm going to stick with individual releases on these and steelbooks if possible.
