I saw a video on Youtube yesterday evening about this.
There's some good things in it, espcially the tracking running from the headset itself instead of a camera, but I was disappointed that there was no info on improved controllers, which other than the lack of type of games I was hoping for (bigger more immersive things like Skyrim or Resdient Evil 7, as opposed to smaller games), was my biggest overall issue with the PSVR. Why they didn't do a move controller with a thumbstick is beyond me. I'm not to keen on the heptic feedback in the headset, but Id expect it can be turned off. |

It does sound like Sony are ticking all the boxes for the next headset.
I'd still like to see some add-on game "experience" content made available, something that never happened with PSVR. So, for instance, you play a game on your TV, but in the Extras menu is the option to visit that location in VR. Or where games sometimes give you character models to view, it'd be great to see them life size in VR (something that Batman Arkham VR provides and it's amazing, hello Harley!) Fingers crossed this arrives no later than Autumn 2022. |

Play Station Virtual Reality Two. I remember when PSVR 1 was called the Morpheus at one time, like Lawrence Fishburne from the Matrix. I can't imagine him not being in the Maxtrix 4.
Sony's marketing makes it seem like a camera is required based on that adapter the PSVR needed to play on a PS5. I thought the same thing, "Oh, guess I will need a PS5 camera since the PS4 camera won't work for PSVR2 games". Thankfully I didn't buy the PS5 camera as I was going to wait for the PSVR 2 in December 2023 is my guess when it'll release. PS4 released November 2013, but PSVR 1 released 2016, so around that time range anyway. |

With the delay of PS5's sold to actual consumers and the lack of consoles being produced, I'll guess an easy delay of PSVR 2 until Holiday 2023 at the earliest.
Better to time the PSVR2 when 20 million or more PS5s are in gamers' homes, since probably half or more PS5s in their boxes still belong to many greedy resellers. Plus it needs a big library of must have PSVR 2 games. If they have to dramatically scale back the possibilities again like with the PSVR1, where they couldn't even bring Fallout 4 VR to the PSVR because it couldn't handle the graphics, then that wouldn't be good either. I hope PSVR2 is much stronger as a VR unit in what it can achieve visually while maintaining 60 fps. The challenge for VR is because a VR game requires twice as much data by displaying 2 independent dual stereo 3D cameras for the stereo 3D effect for immersion. I really hope it can easily handle any PS4 game like Fallout 4 in VR if converted for VR, which wasn't possible with PSVR. The problem is, at this early stage, developers are already having trouble reaching true 4K resolution at 60 fps and have to scale 2D games back below 2160p/4K on regular PS5 games. |

Seems like Bloomberg were spot on with the OLED report. I wonder what price this will come in at especially with the controllers included.

Hopefully Sony calls it PS5VR or PS5 VR, or PSVR2 would be the best IMO, but definitely not NGVR for next gen virtual reality as was rumored. If that last one was the final name, I'd wonder if it was a separate brand altogether if I didn't follow it.
The hope is PSVR2 will allow even normal games to have a VR version so you can enjoy not just games made only for VR, but AAA games that are primarily made for 2D but feature an extra VR version for those with the PSVR2. So Horizon 2 would have a VR mode is the hope. Stuff like that would keep the PSVR 2 doing well without the eventual slow down as experienced in 2020. Fallout 4 VR would finally be possible on a PS5 is the hope. PSVR on PS4 couldn't handle it at 60 fps and it was stuck on PC VR. |

Oh yeah it will definitely have a different name. NGVR is just a convenient code name to use like when they announced the Vita it was simply called NGP for Next Gen Portable.
PSVR2 would be a simple to understand name for consumers to know that it’s the newest one. PS5 VR would also work for the same reasons. Maybe they throw a curveball and give it an actual name rather than a number. |

It's a shame that the PS5 can't play 3D Blu-rays since with the improvements made it seems the PS VR2 would be an appealing way to watch 3D movies.

Sony's excuse might be that they don't want to add extra megabytes for a less popular feature for mainstream when free space is so limited on the 1st PS5 but what about the GB's worth of memory that takes up a huge percentage of the PS5 for unknown reasons right out of the first update for PS5? They don't even openly reveal on PS5 what all that loss of storage is for. |

Sony wants to stay away from "VR experiences." I don't agree with that. There are a tons of exciting, wonderful, artsy, and quick play experiences out there just waiting to be experienced. Why take any of that away. I picked up a Quest 2 when it released and I am very glad that they have a nice variety of experiences as well as games to choose from. For the sake of variety, I think dropping "experiences" is a mistake. I didn't see where they said that PSVR owners have shied away from experiences or that they did a pole and nobody wanted that.

That's probably true but one small step at a time to add to their "to do" list potentially. While I doubt they'll care, it's worth a try IMO.
