Next up though will be Next of Kin (which I believe Tarantino called his favorite Aussie film but don’t quote me on that).
Wake In Fright is a good one. Really enjoyed that. So too The Candy Snatchers.

Still, it has redneck goonie brothers and a kangaroo slaughterhouse of horrors, so I think it might qualify.
Awesome thanks. Will add Razorback to my want list.

So a couple recommendations for the upcoming VS sale. I enjoyed both and they will soon be oop!

Limited to 3,000 units

Ms. Tenney (Brenda Fogarty) and a group of summer school students are on a camping trip in the desert to study ancient native cultures and to hike through the Grand Canyon. But when their bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere, a trio of bikers, led by the demented Al (Zalman King) finds them and tricks them into heading out to an abandoned farmhouse. Fearing for their lives, the girls and their teacher try to survive the night and the short tempered, psycho biker Al.

Limited to 2,000 units

From the mind of erotic auteur Joe Sarno comes RED ROSES OF PASSION, a lurid tale of lust and violence.

Carla is fed up with her dull home life, living a prudish existence with her spinster aunt. After being introduced to a tarot reader, Carla quickly finds herself involved with a mysterious sect known as The Cult of Pan, who have learned to harness the carnal powers of roses to entrap men into sexual liaisons. But as Carla delves deeper into the occult world, the true and much more sinister motives of the cult start to become apparent.

I totally enjoyed Red Roses of Passion and thought it was a shame there was never a slipcover for it. Those red roses scream, "Emboss me, please!"

I don't think its released in the states - which is a damn shame - but I think the disc is region free. I HIGHLY recommend The Man From Hong Kong. Brian Trenchard Smith, after he finished writing the script, went back and made sure there were action beats every 10 or so pages. Explosions, Kung Fu, Hang gliding, Samo Hung on Ayers Rock cameo, Car Chases, guns fights, and George Lazenby on fire! What more could you possibly want!

Also, I strongly endorse as a sampler package, Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation! The trailers within are awesome and the documentary is from the same guy who did the Cannon Films doc and the Indonesian exploitation movie doc. Quality stuff!

wow, looking at that Man From Hong Kong blu, it looks like it also comes with 5 bonus Trenchard-Smith films! Sure, they're in SD, but still, that's a huge endorsement - SOLD!

Next of Kin is very good, however it is a slow burner.
It's great to see the love for Turkey Shoot, i love it. That wolf guy makes the movie!
I will second Razorback. I think i still have the import dvd. Same guy who directed The Highlander i believe. Worth a look.

I would not own a copy of Joe in my collection today had it not been for that documentary!
If you haven't checked out the Ozploitation doc or Machete Maidens unleashed, seek them out immediately. They're easily just as good as EBtWUSoCF, and will open your eyes to all new worlds. MMU was the main reason I got the Hemisphere Films box and the Eddie Romero box that Severin did last year.

Also, Joe is out on Blu? I had no idea! I gotta get that in my collection STAT. My Cannon collection thusfar is pretty comprehensive.

There's a pretty good (for early bluray with an interlaced transfer) aussie bluray of Razorback, if your system can handle the 1080i/50hz. It has some good extras, too. It was also really cheap when I got it.

Looks like there's a newer release with a new transfer that's not interlaced, and looks like it's easier to acquire as well. I'll have to get it! Glad I looked at this thread or I wouldn't have found out about it! Seems to be easily available online in the states and region free, too.

Before you get too excited, just be advised that the version of STUNT ROCK on there is totally botched. The picture is really stretched for some odd reason, wrong aspect ratio. Real bummer. I'm still holding on to my Code Red dvd.

That's ok, I'll use it as a sampler and if I like it get a better version when available.

Yeah this title never stood out to me but after reading the review on here, I’ve added it to my want list for BF.

I thought they did a repressed version with the corrected aspect ratio? Mine was one of the early day releases, but I seem to recall that they sent out replacements.

Mind you, it's been forever since I've thought about it so I may be crazy wrong.

Wise move. And even if I'm wrong about the corrected aspect ratio, the rest of the disc is still solid.

If so, that's news to me. I'll gladly get a replacement if it's available. As it is, the main feature MAN FROM HONG KONG looked fine.

Yup, looks like I was remembering correctly! From the TMFHK thread:

Quote:
Umbrella understands that a few customers have had an issue with the Aspect Ratio of STUNT ROCK on Our Man From Hong Kong Blu-Ray Special (DAVID CODE 3536). The issue has now been resolved and replacement discs are now available from Umbrella Entertainment.

Please forward proof of purchase and contact details to customerservice@umbrellaent.com.au to receive your replacement disc
That was from 2017, so any discs floating around the market these days are probably the corrected versions. Probably.

Yes, I think the reviewer here wrote a great summery observation...

Quote:
"Red Roses of Passion" is almost like a "Tales from the Darkside" episode, only with more exposed breasts and crazy softcore couplings. It's a very entertaining picture, especially when Sarno goes for creepiness, managing a few bizarre sequences while the rest teeters on camp, but in an enjoyable way. It's not polished work, prone to repetition, but "Red Roses of Passion" gives off a neat underground cinema vibe and provides a short enough run time to help endure it.

Im a bit partial to leading ladies horror/ in prison / revenge / exploitation films such as:

[Show spoiler]

... those are in my collection. Not counting 80's teen comedies, Andy Sidaris films or DTV thrillers.
