As someone who subbed to Funimation for a few specific series I'm already not happy with this merger. And with no information on when the Funimation dubs will be put on Crunchyroll this is leaving both my fiancée and me wondering when something like say the One Piece dub will be on Crunchyroll. Radio silence from both Funimation and Crunchyroll on stuff like this.... yep.....

They're working on it. Plan is to have it all on Crunchyroll by the end of the month.

Going to post this stuff from the other thread in case anyone missed it.

Also, will the option of both broadcast and home video versions remain? For series that were simulcast, a little after the home video release hit, HIDIVE and FUNimation would add the home video version as an option. Crunchyroll meanwhile typically doesn't offer home video versions of shows it simulcast. For example, The Seven Mortal Sins, if you want to see that uncensored, you gotta buy the Blu-ray or watch through FUNimation's streams.

As previously mentioned there's also VIZ, but they've always been more of a manga company. There's also RightStuf, though they introduced the Nozomi Entertainment label in 2007 so people would know what titles for sale on Rightstuf.com were licensed by them.

I think this post should be added to the first post or at least the second post as it is relevant information.

The transfer from Funimation to Crunchyroll is slowed down by some technical issues - many of them involving the different subtitle systems.

However, dubbed shows are handled with priority - as they are more popular and require less work. See e.g. Fruits Basket, where the Spanish Dubs already got transfered for alle 3 seasons, but the subs aren't done yet.

I'm just wondering because it could be possible that one or the other might be phased out entirely or heavily scaled back (maybe FUNimation's staff might only handle home video).
Although Crunchyroll LLC (formerly Funimation Global Group) doesn't state where the corporate headquarters are, it appears the executive leadership and some of the corporate functions are now based at Culver City, California (where co-parent Sony Pictures Entertainment is headquartered at), although its likely that Funimation's presence in Culver City has grown since the Sony Pictures acquisition and the Funimation Global Group Joint Venture formation between Sony Pictures and Aniplex.

Crunchyroll's Jobs website lists Culver City ahead of San Francisco and Dallas in terms of US offices, with Culver City/Los Angeles and San Francisco having more job listings than Dallas/Coppell, although the job listings itself state that Crunchyroll's Headquarters are in San Francisco. Colin Decker's LinkedIn, CEO of Crunchyroll LLC (formerly Funimation Global Group), lists his employer's location as Culver City, CA.

Thanks. I do wonder at least with One Piece in regards of for instance "We Are" 10th Anniversary that was used from the tail end of "Thriller Bark" through the first half of "Sabaody Archipelago" arc (episodes 373-394) will the English dub retail this opening on Crunchyroll or will they replace it out with the previous opening "Jungle P" that Crunchyroll has on their sub version. In fact for whatever reason "Jungle P" was used from episodes 326-458 on Crunchyroll so will any of the opening that Funimation used be retained when moving the English dub to Crunchyroll or will they be outright replaced with "Jungle P."

No idea. I don't watch One Piece. Will have to see what they upload.

So far, Funimation is recommending Funimation account holders create a new Crunchyroll account. You should receive a email with a 60 day free trial offer that expires March 1, 2023.

I just realized the downside of moving all the FUNI content into Crunchyroll's player, and it's downside that applies to my specific needs.

There's no English CC/SDH option for the dubbed content. Never was for Crunchyroll's player, but that's always provided on the FUNI video player.

Netflix in general, I'm sure. Netflix anime, that's a different story, as the English subs only apply to the Japanese audio in general.

Ironically, when Crunchyroll or Funimation license their dubbed content to Hulu and HBO Max, the dubs on Hulu or HBO Max will then have a separate English CC subtitle track.

Hopefully, Crunchyroll realizes that captioning/subtitles for their dubs is just as important if Crunchyroll wants to be a larger global anime streaming service.

Thank you for the links. I’ll keep a lookout for the free trial email and cross the Crunchy bridge then. Hopefully it’s a smooth crossing.

Never had a Crunchyroll sub and the last Funimation product I bought new was Attack on Titan. More reasons not to touch either again outside of the lackluster home release quality. lmao

I don’t know why more anime streams and discs don’t have closed captions for the dub. Traditional subtitles serve a different purpose and are no substitute.

It's f***king annoying, so much so that I don't bother with the Crunchyroll service anymore (not until they fix it).

Googling it highlights that it has been a on-going issue for years, years!

If anyone from Crunchyroll is reading, fix your damn player; stop auto-logging out users after x-days of inactivity. It's hateful.

I don't see this has been mentioned but if the Funimation app goes bye bye what happens to the digital copies that were included with BluRay purchases? Hopefully they don't all go away as well.
