Good point, but it still has the same retcon as A New Beginning.

You could also argue that the film would be even more unknown if it wasn’t a part of the Halloween series. It’s a decently-made film, but it certainly wouldn’t have the notoriety it has on its own. It would probably just be another 80s horror film with a cult audience.

I don't know, the steelbook 4K(Remasters) release looks glorious played on my Panny with my OLED.
I might be entering re-buy fatigue?

I think it would've done better *critically*, but this was a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario with the box office in regards to the name. Go for the recognition of the title, alienate Michael Myers fans. Go for something more original (though "Season of the Witch" was already the name of a George A. Romero film), people would gloss over it. Granted, with Carpenter on as producer, it could've been called "John Carpenter Presents Season of the Witch", or something along those lines. Hell, that would've made the moment in the bar with the Halloween TV spot seem like a nice wink, rather than an accidental stab in the heart, lol.

I get that Carpenter wanted to try an anthology thing, but once Halloween II was a direct sequel, it was way too late for that.

I definitely agree that the anthology angle would’ve worked much better if H2 did this first.

Yeah, having the second movie in the series pick up the moment the first ended and take place the exact same night with all the same characters really killed the whole anthology angle.

I would love for In the Mouth of Madness to be released in 4K UHD as well.

Pre-ordered this and part 1 from Amazon. Hopefully the price drops a bit before release.
